Job Description

JOB TITLE: Senior Manager, Trade Control (12-month Fixed Term Contract)

SALARY: Competitive

LOCATION: London

HOURS: Full-time

WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites. Colleagues with disabilities can be supported with workplace adjustments in line with our Flexibility Works policy.

What You’ll Be Doing

This is a 12-month Fixed Term Contract opportunity to shape and lead our Trade Control function across Global Markets and Group Corporate Treasury, ensuring trades are accurately captured, controlled and reported across the full trade lifecycle.

As the Senior Manager, Trade Control, you’ll work closely with Front Office, Risk, Finance and Technology teams to ensure markets activity is correctly represented in trade capture and risk systems, supporting accurate customer outcomes and reliable downstream data.

You’ll lead and develop a high-performing Trade Control team, while driving simplification and transformation initiatives across Middle Office processes. This includes strengthening end‑to‑end controls, supporting regulatory remediation activity, and redesigning elements of the operating model - including offshore delivery - to improve efficiency, resilience and risk management.

You’ll be a recognised source of expertise in complex markets products, trade lifecycle events and operational flows, providing technical advice to senior leaders across Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB), Group Corporate Treasury and the wider Group.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Trade Control function across Markets and Treasury, ensuring accurate trade capture, control and reporting across the full trade lifecycle

  • Own and strengthen end‑to‑end Trade Control processes, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and Group risk frameworks

  • Monitor and improve control and service performance through operational metrics, effective issue management, clear decision‑making and prioritisation in a fast‑moving Markets environment

  • Lead, develop and coach a high‑performing Trade Control team, setting clear objectives and driving consistent delivery

  • Partner closely with Front Office, Risk, Finance and Technology to resolve issues, improve data quality and support reliable downstream processing

  • Drive simplification, transformation and operating model change across Middle Office processes, including offshore delivery and remediation activity

What We’re Looking For

Essential experience and skills:

  • Extensive experience (10+ years) in Trade Control, Middle Office or Markets Operations, supporting complex financial markets products across the full trade lifecycle

  • Significant experience (5+ years) leading teams within a Markets or Investment Banking environment, including performance management and colleague development

  • Strong working knowledge (8+ years) of financial instruments, trade booking models, lifecycle events and associated operational and risk controls

  • Experience (5+ years) working with markets trade booking and risk management systems, with a strong focus on data quality and control integrity

  • Solid understanding of risk frameworks, regulatory expectations and control environments within a large, regulated financial institution

  • Strong relationship‑building skills, with the confidence to engage, influence and challenge senior leaders across Markets and Treasury

And any experience of these would be great:

  • Experience supporting or leading trade control remediation or regulatory programmes

  • Exposure to operating model change, including offshoring or process re-engineering

  • Knowledge of CIB and Group Corporate Treasury products, processes and business drivers

We know that great talent comes from many backgrounds. Whilst this job advert may reference specific years of experience, we recognise that skills are developed in many ways, so if you have relevant, transferable experience, we encourage you to apply.
