Job Description
The Opportunity
Brightflag is growing. As a market leader, with a product that customers truly love, we’re scaling quickly. To continue to build and evolve our AI-first product we’re growing our Product & Engineering team across multiple disciplines. We have an exceptional team and a high bar. We challenge ourselves with ambitious goals, best practice standards and a drive for continuous improvement. If you want to grow, get better and accelerate your career in Product, Brightflag is the place for you.
As a Lead Technology Product Manager at Brightflag you will build the experience that our clients use to engage with their outside counsel. We’re seeking someone who is hands-on, thrives in a small team and understands that every outside counsel legal engagement problem we unearth is an opportunity for us to help solve. A significant part of this role involves defining and shipping AI-powered capabilities - you will work closely with our engineering and data science teams to bring AI capabilities to life in ways that are practical, trustworthy and genuinely valuable to customers.
You’ll work closely and collaboratively with a core balanced team of engineering, design and product management. You should be excited about short feedback loops with our colleagues in customer support, success, sales, marketing and, most importantly, our customers.
*This is an individual contributor role and does not have people management responsibilities.
What You Will Be Doing
- Collaborate with your design and engineering counterparts daily in order to build the product. Expect to be involved in the most detailed of product conversations and drive momentum whilst being the custodian of the longer term picture of Brightflag.
- Define and drive our AI-powered E-Billing roadmap, identifying where AI can meaningfully reduce friction, surface insights or automate repetitive legal work for our customers. Own the problem space end-to-end, from discovery through to measuring real-world impact.
- Work hands-on with LLMs, AI agents and machine learning capabilities. Partner with engineers and data scientists to evaluate model outputs, set quality bars, define guardrails and shape how AI features are tested and iterated on before and after launch.
- Talk to customers weekly and partner with design for continuous discovery that informs the opportunities we go after at Brightflag.
- Shape, inform and grow the product area you and the team are responsible for whilst ruthlessly prioritising the product backlog with an emphasis on impact for customers.
- Continuously build out your context of the product and the market. Always looking for ways to better contextualise the decisions we make about “What Next?” and “Why?”
- Increase our speed of learning and ability to thoughtfully adapt. Drive the Measure & Learn parts of Lean Product Management using quantitative and qualitative sources.
- Partner with support, success, sales and marketing to better understand how our business is evolving and how product supports that.
Skills & Experience
To be successful in the role, you need:
- A positive mindset that remains curious even when dealing with a lot of ambiguity
- At least 5 years’ experience in product management with a focus on software products, preferably B2B SaaS
- Demonstrated experience building and shipping AI-powered products. You understand the product lifecycle of AI features: from problem framing and data requirements through to evaluation, iteration and responsible deployment
- Hands-on familiarity working with LLMs, AI agents or ML-based systems - enough to have informed conversations with engineers, ask the right questions and make good trade-off decisions
- Prior experience with interviewing customers to test assumptions and learn towards a goal
- Prior experience with using analytics products to gather insights
- Prior experience and a genuine interest in building legal, finance or productivity software
- Highly collaborative team player
- Outcome driven
The following are a bonus!
- Experience with prompt engineering, fine-tuning workflows or AI evaluation frameworks
- Familiarity with responsible AI principles: explainability, bias detection, user trust and transparency
- Background in legal tech, legal operations or enterprise workflow automation
