Regional Veterinary Trainer
Department: Medical Operations / Clinical Leadership
Reports To: Regional Medical Director
Position Summary: The Regional Veterinary Trainer is a medical leadership role responsible for developing, mentoring, and supporting veterinarians across the Midwest region (Minnesota and Wisconsin). This veterinarian combines strong clinical expertise with a passion for teaching and coaching, serving as a key resource for new and developing veterinarians. The role emphasizes hands-on mentorship, clinical excellence in medicine, surgery, dentistry, and fostering a supportive learning environment tailored to individual needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct mentorship and clinical guidance to early-career veterinarians, with a focus on building confidence and competency in general practice and surgery
- Design and implement individualized training and development plans based on each mentee’s skills, goals, and learning style. Will need to be able to support mentoring of 2-3 mentees simultaneously for approximately 6-8 week periods.
- Support hospitals through on-site visits, case consultations, and hands-on surgical and medical coaching
- Promote best practices in veterinary medicine, including diagnostic approaches, treatment planning, and client communication
- Serve as a role model for clinical excellence, professionalism, and compassionate care
- Collaborate with hospital leadership to identify skill gaps and training opportunities within teams
- Facilitate workshops, case rounds, and continuing education sessions
- Provide constructive, actionable feedback and track mentee progress improving production over 6-8 weeks with the goal of meeting salary production in 6 - 12 months.
- Assess and support a culture of continuous learning, psychological safety, and teamwork
- Demonstrate a working understanding of veterinary business operations, including workflow efficiency, patient flow, client experience, and financial awareness.
Required Qualifications:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in small animal general practice
- Demonstrated proficiency in routine and advanced surgical procedures
- Active veterinary license in good standing (or ability to obtain licensure in the region)

Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience mentoring, teaching, or leading veterinary teams
- Experience in multi-site or regional practice environments
- Interest or experience in curriculum or training program development
Success Measures:
- Improvement in clinical confidence and competency of mentees
- Positive feedback from veterinarians and hospital teams
- Measurable impact on hospital performance and patient care quality
- Increased mentee production in 6 weeks.
- Enable mentees to be producing at or above salary threshold within 6-12 mths
- Successful implementation of structured training programs across the region
Work Environment & Travel:
- Regional travel will be required to support multiple hospital locations in the Midwest region which will include frequent travel to hospitals in both Minnesota and Wisconsin.
- Combination of clinical, in-hospital training and remote mentorship
Compensation and Benefits:
- The Salary for this position will be up to $150,000 annually.
