Overview
The Risk Services Insights team is a group of curious, collaborative, and forward-thinking professionals who believe in the power of data to transform business. Our mission is to deliver timely, actionable insights that enable confident decision-making and fuel innovation across Risk Services. As a Senior Data Analyst, you will play a critical role in delivering the performance analytics that support operational effectiveness, resource optimization, and strategic decision-making across Risk Services. You will be hands-on from day one—building analytical tools, validating data, and translating complex performance metrics into compelling stories for senior leadership.
Responsibilities
Analyze service delivery performance and operational health metrics to uncover drivers of efficiency, quality, and customer impact.
Develop performance dashboards and KPI frameworks that enable leaders to monitor trends and evaluate business outcomes.
Analyze large datasets to identify trends, anomalies, and root causes; translate findings into clear, actionable recommendations.
Work through a robust backlog by independently prioritizing work, managing deadlines, and delivering high-quality outputs.
Lead requirements-gathering sessions with business partners; document user stories, acceptance criteria, and measurement definitions.
Drive conversations with stakeholders across the enterprise to clarify objectives, align on scope, and ensure successful delivery.
Leverage an understanding of data structures and architecture to troubleshoot data issues and partner with engineering teams.
Create and deliver polished, data-driven presentations tailored for senior leadership, translating complex analytical insights into business impact.
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or performance measurement roles.
Expert-level proficiency with Snowflake, SQL, Tableau Desktop/Server, Tableau Prep, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Experience working with messy datasets, validating data, and performing complex analysis.
Familiarity with data structures, architecture concepts, and data engineering workflows.
Proven ability to analyze large datasets and convert insights into clear business recommendations.
Exceptional executive communication and data storytelling skills.
Experience with requirements gathering and structured documentation.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize work, communicate proactively, and keep stakeholders aligned.
Familiarity with Agile/Kanban methodologies and tools (e.g., Rally) is strongly preferred.
Experience in insurance, risk engineering, or related fields is preferred but not required.
Work Arrangement
This role offers a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement:
Candidates near Hartford, Chicago, Charlotte, or other major office locations are expected to work in-office 3 days per week (Tuesday–Thursday).
Remote candidates will work virtually, with occasional travel as business needs arise.
Candidate must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position.

Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
92,800-147,720The posted salary range reflects our ability to hire at different position titles and levels depending on background and experience.
