There are two openings:

Mars Petcare- Shift Lead- Columbus, OH

Area: Common Systems/Processing AND Single Serve Line 6

  • Pay: $33.36/hour and $1.50 Shift Premium
  • This site manufactures Petfood

Shift Schedule: 

Shift: 3rd (Nights)

Schedule: 2.2.3

Hours: 7pm- 730am

Description of Role:

The Shift Lead coordinates and directs activities within the processing, packaging, and warehouse departments to safely and efficiently produce quality products and act as a manager in their absence.

What are we looking for?

Minimum Requirements:

  • High Diploma, GED or equivalent education
  • 3+ years of manufacturing experience
  • Proven track record of leading teams
  • Proficiency in software systems including MS Office and e-mail

Physical Requirements:

  • Can perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying (10-50 lbs) and pushing/pulling (50-300 lbs)
  • Frequent bending, stooping, twisting, handling, and gripping.
  • Ability to work at elevated heights, climb stairs, lean over equipment, and operate in confined spaces.
  • Ability to stand and work on feet for extended periods, with shifts lasting 12 hours
  • Capable of working in hot, cold and wet conditions
  • Proficient in understanding, communicating, reading, and writing in English.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Technical degree or certification(s)
  • Previous experience in a people leadership role
  • 4+ years’ experience in a manufacturing role

What will be your Key Responsibilities?

  • Indirect leadership for a production shift or area up to 13 associates (indirectly)
  • Operation management including the safe and efficient operation of all equipment, manages daily staffing, addresses production needs to meet productivity goals, and makes sure reports are completed correctly and on time.
  • Facilitates communication with other teams to ensure smooth shift changes, effective production line use, and minimal downtime. Ensures all necessary ingredients and supplies are ready to go.
  • Monitors production lines and identify and fix problems, resolve conflicts, and find opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Provides on-the-job training for new employees covering safety, equipment operation, and quality standards. They will also operate equipment as needed and help create a positive team environment.
  • Guarantees all tasks are done according to Mars Safety and Quality rules, and that all required quality checks are performed
  • Any ad hoc requests

Total Rewards
