We’re looking for an Accountant to join our team supporting the Large Engines manufacturing facility in Lafayette, IN as part of the Large Power Systems Division at Caterpillar.

As the Accountant, you will be responsible for the product cost and capital support.  This role will encourage utilizing excellent communication, presentation and financial analysis skills, as well as being a liaison with other groups throughout the facility and enterprise.  This position interacts with and presents to leadership.

What You Will Do:

  • Coordinate monthly Abnormals Reporting for the facility, including review and approval of Abnormals for inventory valuation calculations
  • Coordinate the annual Normals Cycle for Enterprise Product Cost including facility rates development
  • Support the annual Standard Cost Revision (SCR) for setting of costs sourced by the facility
  • Provide quarterly cost monitoring to Corporate to ensure that the Lafayette Engine Center provides timely product cost estimates and understand changes
  • Monthly grief resolution for setting standard costs
  • Maintain proper burden pools for the facility and monthly grief resolution
  • Assist the auditors in their inquiries about capital assets
  • Capital coordinator for Lafayette facility to track capital expenditures in comparison to the capital budget
  • Provide cost rollups and analysis for sourcing studies
  • Use of business systems/tools including, but not limited to Caterpillar Capital Management System, Caterpillar Cost systems, NextGen & Power BI

What Skills You Need to be Successful:

  • Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree within Accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.
  • Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Financial Analysis: Knowledge of tools and approaches of financial analysis; ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material.
  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

  • This role is full-time, requiring 5 days a week in the office

Summary Pay Range:

$97,530.00 - $146,290.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
