This position demands Core Engineering focused, result oriented Engineering role within Cabin system & components department to support Cabin configuration. The role requires to work and deliver end to end cab design.
The scope of responsibility not limited to cabin configuration work along with machines, L4 systems (Electrical, hydraulic, etc.) and L3 teams (Structure, non-metallics, HVAC, OVT and seatings systems, etc.). Also lead the conversation with the suppliers and work with cross functional team to prove the design and ensure product meets the best of CATERPILLAR standards within defined time and cost targets.
Core skill requirements:
Strong Knowledge of cabin
- Must be aware of Cabin configuration and light fab structure design (Sheet metal and welding).
- Must be aware of interface knowledge across multiple sub-systems (Structure, non-metallics, HVAC, OVT and seatings systems, etc.)
- Candidate must have strong technical expertise to develop new design concepts/ proposals and drive decisions
- Hands on Experience in Design principle, ISO standards for validation, Knowledge on tooling, manufacturing process and assembly process
- Must be able to work with Suppliers, Buyers, provide engineering support to design and develop the parts.
- Should be able to take individual design decisions and direct sub-system teams
- Deliver design solutions for CPI projects
- Must be aware of BIQ process, APQP, DMFEA, DMIAC approach, PPAP, and AQE
- Strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD &T), Bolted joint and Tolerance Stack up analysis.
- Should be able to read, understand and interpret the FEA reports
- Must be a good team player, provide technical supports in day -day activities,
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Creo FEA analysis will be added advantage.
Qualification requirement:
- Post-Graduation / master’s degree / bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical/ Production/Automobile)
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as the need arises.
- SIX SIGMA Green belt will be added advantage.
Software proficiency:
Expert level - Creo (Solid modelling, Sheet metal etc.) Expert Level – Team centre or equivalent PLM tool
Work experience:
- Relevant work experience of min. 7+ years
- Should have involved in resolving the field failures / part fit up issue etc.
- Handled cost optimization and Quality improvement projects.
- Must have worked on minimum 3 projects with DMAIC
- Must have a record of delivering min.2+ Cabin Design from concept to production
- Should have worked on reverse engineering projects.
