Position Summary
The Lead Director of Technology leads the end‑to‑end technology vision, architecture, and execution for Agentic AI capabilities and clinical platforms within the PBM organization. This leader owns the development and deployment of intelligent clinical solutions—including automated decision agents, AI‑assisted workflows, and advanced analytics—and ensures these capabilities integrate seamlessly into enterprise clinical products and services.
The role is accountable for the stability, reliability, and ongoing support of all platform components that power PBM clinical solutions. This includes platform operations, cloud infrastructure, application support, and system performance management.
In addition, the Lead Director provides strong people leadership, managing multiple managers and senior technical architects. This position grows and mentors high‑performing teams, builds technical depth and delivery discipline, and ensures alignment to enterprise technology standards and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in AI engineering, modern cloud architectures, and clinical/PBM operations, with the ability to translate complex business needs into innovative, production‑ready solutions.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in technology leadership roles, with significant experience in AI, automation, and digital application delivery.
- Possesses deep expertise in AI/ML engineering, LLM‑based agent design, orchestration frameworks, and responsible AI practices.
- Brings experience delivering and supporting large‑scale clinical or PBM technology solutions in regulated healthcare environments.
- Leads architecture for cloud platforms, data pipelines, APIs, and integration patterns that support scalable AI‑driven clinical solutions.
- Oversees operational reliability, availability, performance, and incident management for enterprise clinical AI and platform services.
- Manages and develops high‑performing engineering managers, architects, and senior technologists.
- Ensures delivery excellence using modern engineering practices including Agile, CI/CD, MLOps/AIOps, and robust SDLC governance.
- Communicates effectively with cross‑functional partners and executives, translating complex AI and platform concepts into business outcomes.
- Implements strong AI governance, risk management, compliance, and responsible‑AI controls aligned to enterprise standards.
- Manages budgets, resources, and vendor relationships to optimize financial and operational performance of clinical technology platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years experience leading technology strategy and execution for Agentic AI and clinical platforms aligned to PBM clinical services.
- Hands-on experience with LLMs, generative AI solutions, and orchestration frameworks for Agentic workflows.
- Prior leadership experience developing AI‑driven clinical or PBM products at enterprise scale.
- Demonstrated success in transforming legacy clinical platforms into modern, cloud‑based, API‑driven architectures.
- Experience navigating regulatory, clinical, or compliance frameworks related to healthcare AI, including responsible‑AI and model‑governance programs.
Education
Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience
Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$144,200.00 - $288,400.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
