As a Quality Engineering Manager, you will drive automation strategies, lead technical implementation, and guide quality engineering best practices across digital applications. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure an “automation-first” culture and contribute to Western Union’s digital modernization.
Role Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and promote an automation-first approach across the QE lifecycle.
- Conduct peer reviews, upskill engineers on automation patterns, and collaborate with product, engineering, and architecture teams on quality strategy.
- Plan and execute functional, regression, integration, and system testing with a focus on negative, edge, and corner cases.
- Perform root-cause analysis, production validation, and release readiness checks to ensure zero defect leakage.
- Track quality metrics such as automation coverage and defect leakage, and present insights, risks, and dashboards to stakeholders.
- Maintain test documentation, framework guidelines, and coding standards.
- Drive and ensure utilization of automation for Tier 1 Strategic application of western Union.
- Karate for API, integration, and service-level automation.
- Playwright for web UI automation.
- Appium for iOS and Android mobile automation.
- Implement and ensure automation frameworks align with engineering standards, code quality, and best practices.
- Integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
- Ensure quality gates and automated validations across stages of deployment.
Role Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in team leadership and automation testing, preferably within the Banking, Payments or Remittance domain.
- Strong expertise in API automation tools such as Karate, Playwright, Rest Assured, and Appium with the ability to mentor QE engineers.
- Deep knowledge of SDLC, STLC, agile methodologies, and strong debugging skills across UI, mobile, and API layers.
- Basic understanding of API-driven enterprise architecture, customer-facing applications, and the financial services domain.
- Familiarity with partner APIs, transaction lifecycle, and tools like Postman, Jira, and Confluence.
- Proven ability to manage stakeholders, lead without authority, and influence technical decisions.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities, with ability to define structured processes and ensure adherence by team.
- High attention to detail with strong documentation and communication skills.
