Gallatin AI
Job Description
About Gallatin
At Gallatin, we are rebuilding logistics infrastructure for the national security missions of the United States and allied partners. We build AI systems that determine how logistics decisions are made — not just how they're executed. From factory to foxhole, we operate at the layer where data becomes decisions, and decisions make the advantage.
About the Role
We're looking for a Field Engineer to join our Field Engineering team and play a foundational role in deploying Navigator, our AI-first defense logistics platform, across our most strategic public sector accounts. As a Field Engineer at Gallatin, you sit at the intersection of customer delivery, engineering, and product, owning the technical relationship with our largest customers and ensuring they unlock the full operational value of what we're building.
You will work alongside customer engineering and logistics teams to integrate Navigator into their existing systems and workflows, from initial onboarding through production-grade deployment. You are a generalist software engineer who thrives in ambiguity, builds trust quickly with both front-line operators and senior program leadership, and finds genuine satisfaction in solving hard problems alongside the people they affect.
What You'll Do
Implement end-to-end data integrations, connecting customers' existing logistics and sustainment systems to Navigator and back
Partner with customer engineering teams to optimize data pipelines, including advising on API endpoint design and input/output schemas suited to defense logistics data
Design, develop, and maintain playbooks, internal tooling, and documentation to help customers onboard quickly and scale sustainably
Debug technical issues impacting delivery, own technical escalations, and partner with Gallatin's Product and Engineering teams to remove blockers
Be the technical owner of the customer experience throughout the lifecycle of their engagement, from onboarding to daily operational use
Work with Engagement Managers to surface customer-specific feature requests and feed them into the product roadmap
Build deep domain expertise in defense logistics, AI/ML applied to sustainment operations, and enterprise system integrations (e.g., MSS, Advana, Vantage, Envision)
Represent Gallatin at customer sites, program reviews, and key industry events
What We're Looking For
Track record of success in a hybrid customer-facing engineering role, comfortable wearing multiple hats
Prior hands-on technical experience working with clients in pre- or post-sales, implementation, or program delivery contexts
Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, or similar modern languages
Strong engineering background, preferably in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field
Strong project management and interpersonal skills
Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both senior executives and front-line engineers
High comfort level operating across internal and external organizations in fast-moving, ambiguous environments
Intellectual curiosity, empathy, and the ability to operate with high velocity
Hold an active clearance or eligible to to obtain and maintain an active U.S. security clearance
Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time
Bonus Points
Experience in AI/ML or data engineering
Prior work in logistics, sustainment, or supply chain operations
Experience working in classified environments
Previous experience as a technical implementation or go-to-market resource
Understanding of DevSecOps principles, including secure software delivery, infrastructure as code, and CI/CD
Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Helm charts
CompTIA Security+
Familiarity with enterprise defense systems (e.g., MSS, Advana, Vantage, Envision)
Mission and Identity
We are building the system that enables faster, smarter logistics decisions in contested environments, and we're doing it with a team of seasoned entrepreneurs, operators, and technologists who have built and scaled solutions in this space before. We hold ourselves to an extremely high standard. We value clear thinking, direct communication, and the kind of ownership that doesn't stop until something actually works.
Our mission is to create decision advantage when the stakes are the highest. If we succeed, the system doesn't just run; it gets smarter. We're not building AI for its own sake. We're building it because faster, smarter decisions in the most demanding environments on earth can't wait. If you want to work somewhere the stakes are real and the mission is urgent — you'll fit in here.
Why Gallatin?
The logistics infrastructure that supports America's warfighters and humanitarian disaster responders is overdue for transformation, and we are building it. From defense operations to disaster response, we're solving the hardest problems that keep missions moving when it matters most. Join a team where the mission is the point.
Compensation: Gallatin offers competitive compensation commensurate with experience. Actual compensation may vary based on experience, skills, and location. In addition to base salary, we offer a generous equity grant, full healthcare coverage, 401k, unlimited PTO, and the perks of working in a high-caliber, mission-driven environment.
Gallatin is an equal opportunity employer. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state, or local law.
This position may require the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance. The successful candidate must be able to work in a classified environment when necessary.
We comply with the United States Department of Labor's Pay Transparency provision.
