Job Description
At Roche you can show up as yourself, embraced for the unique qualities you bring. Our culture encourages personal expression, open dialogue, and genuine connections, where you are valued, accepted and respected for who you are, allowing you to thrive both personally and professionally. This is how we aim to prevent, stop and cure diseases and ensure everyone has access to healthcare today and for generations to come. Join Roche, where every voice matters.
The Position
Our Global Internship Programme in Innovation & Sustainability (#IP2TIS) offers a unique opportunity for passionate individuals to gain hands-on experience in the pharmaceutical industry while making a positive impact on the world.
Are you ready to join a global network spanning 20+ countries, where bright minds collaborate to tackle real-world challenges in Innovation & Sustainability? Do you want to work on impactful projects, shape the future, and drive change from within?
As an intern, you will contribute to the development of an AI-powered diagnostic engine designed to automate root-cause analysis in complex microservice environments. The project focuses on replacing repetitive manual log analysis with an intelligent system that can ingest, normalize, and analyze logs across the Px13 product line to identify failing components and accelerate bug assignment. Within your first 3 months, you are expected to help deliver a log parsing prototype, an automated root-cause analysis model, a proof-of-concept bug drafting integration, a plug-in architecture design, and an evaluation report comparing manual and AI-assisted diagnosis. Your work will help reduce mean time from crash to bug assignment, improve the engineering work environment by removing error-prone manual effort, and create a reusable architecture that can scale across Roche product lines. This internship offers a purpose-driven opportunity to apply AI and software engineering to bring diagnostic products to labs and patients faster.
The Opportunity
Design and build a prototype module that ingests and normalizes logs from more than 20 microservices into a unified, queryable format
Develop and train an AI model based on Roche-specific error patterns to identify failing components and suggest likely root causes
Create a proof-of-concept integration with Azure DevOps or Retina to automatically generate structured bug tickets with supporting log evidence
Define and document a plug-in API or interface specification that enables other Roche teams to connect their own log schemas
Analyze error flows across distributed microservice systems to improve diagnostic accuracy across service boundaries
Benchmark manual versus AI-assisted diagnosis and evaluate the potential reduction in mean time to repair
Contribute to a scalable architecture that supports cross-product learning and diagnostic support beyond the initial Px13 pilot
Work closely with stakeholders to translate technical findings into practical improvements for software stabilization and release workflows
Who You Are
You are enrolled or have completed your Master’s or PhD studies at a university, preferably in the field of Computer Science, Digital Sciences, or Artificial Intelligence within the last 12 months and are interested in applying your knowledge in a modern working environment as part of an internship of at least 3 months.
Furthermore you are
Advanced in Python and experienced with tools such as Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana
Able to build and document RESTful APIs or interface specifications, for example using Swagger or OpenAPI
Knowledgeable in microservices architecture and distributed systems, such as Docker, Kubernetes, gRPC, or message queues
Familiar with cloud platforms; certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate or AWS Certified Developer are an advantage
A structured, proactive, and collaborative communicator with a strong sense of ownership and fluent English skills
If you meet most but not all qualifications, we still encourage you to apply.
Additional information
The internship is expected to start between 1 and 16 July 2026 and will last at least 3 months.
