About the role
Title:
Principal Civil EngineerKBR is seeking a highly experienced Principal Civil Engineer to lead the delivery of major transport infrastructure projects across Queensland. This is a key leadership role within our Brisbane team, providing technical direction, mentoring capability, and driving project outcomes for some of the region’s most significant road and civil projects.
The Opportunity
In this senior position, you will operate as a technical authority and leader, responsible for delivering high-quality civil design solutions while managing project performance across scope, schedule, and budget.
You will play a critical role in strengthening KBR’s presence in the Queensland transport market, working closely with clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the civil design delivery on major transport infrastructure projects
- Manage project outcomes across technical quality, budget, and schedule
- Oversee engineering investigations, technical reports, design documentation, and specifications
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including construction, project management, and estimating
- Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships
- Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to engineering teams
- Contribute to bids, proposals, and business development activities
- Manage budgets and ensure commercial performance of projects
About You
You are a respected engineering leader with a strong reputation in the transport sector and a passion for delivering complex infrastructure projects.
You will bring:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
- CPEng (or working towards) and eligibility for Engineers Australia membership
- Significant experience (15+ years) in civil engineering, ideally within transport infrastructure
- Proven leadership experience in major road or transport projects
- Strong expertise in road and drainage design
- Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality technical reports and design documentation
Queensland Experience (Essential)
- Strong understanding of TMR (Transport and Main Roads) standards, specifications, and delivery frameworks
- Experience working on Queensland road and transport infrastructure projects
- Familiarity with Austroads guidelines and Australian design standards
