Job Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced and passionate Speech and Language Therapist Lead to join a charity-owned specialist school in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. This setting supports children and young people aged 5 to 19 years with complex and severe speech, language, and communication needs.

The school provides a highly supportive and structured environment tailored to meet the needs of pupils with significant communication challenges, enabling them to achieve their full potential.

This is an exciting opportunity for a senior clinician looking to take on a leadership role within a specialist educational setting. You will lead on the delivery of high-quality speech and language therapy services, supporting both pupils and staff, and driving forward clinical excellence across the provision.


Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:
• Lead and oversee the delivery of Speech and Language Therapy services across the school.
• Assess, diagnose, and provide specialist intervention for children and young people with complex SLCN.
• Develop and implement individualised therapy programmes tailored to each pupil’s needs.
• Provide clinical leadership, supervision, and support to junior therapists and support staff.
• Work collaboratively with education staff, families, and the wider multidisciplinary team.
• Contribute to strategic service development and ensure best practice standards are maintained.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records in line with professional and regulatory standards.


Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, you must have:
• A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
• HCPC registration and membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
• Significant post-qualification experience working with children with complex speech, language, and communication needs.
• Experience working within specialist education settings and/or with severe communication difficulties.
• Proven leadership or supervisory experience (or readiness to step into a leadership role).
• Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
