At GE HealthCare Cork, we are looking for a QC People Team Leader to lead and inspire a high-performing Quality Control team, empowering colleagues to deliver excellence while ensuring the efficient and compliant release of finished products through in-process, microbiological, and environmental testing programmes.In this key leadership role, you will foster a culture of ownership, accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement, while developing team capability and driving operational excellence. You will provide strategic oversight of in-process testing, microbiological testing, Environmental Monitoring (EM), and Water & Utilities programmes, ensuring the highest standards of quality, compliance, and patient safety are maintained.

Responsibilities
People Leadership & Team Development (Primary Focus)
Lead, coach, and develop a team of QC analysts, fostering a high-performance, accountable, and quality-driven culture
Set clear, measurable, and challenging objectives aligned to business and QC goals
Provide regular, structured feedback, performance reviews, and individual development plans
Actively mentor and develop future leaders, ensuring strong succession planning within the team
Drive engagement, motivation, and retention through strong leadership presence and communication
Proactively manage performance, addressing both high and low performance effectively and consistently
Foster a culture where expected behaviours, ownership, and accountability are clearly understood and upheld
Ensure all training, competency assessments, and cross-skilling are completed and maintained
Plan and manage resource allocation, workload balancing, and shift coverage to meet business needs
Monitor and manage attendance, annual leave, and overall team capacity
Team Delivery & Operational Leadership
Accountable for the team’s delivery against turnaround times for Finished Product, Raw Materials, and In-Process testing
Ensure the team consistently achieves Right First Time (RFT) and KPI targets
Lead daily QC tier/status meetings, representing team performance, risks, and priorities
Drive schedule adherence and prioritisation, ensuring alignment with manufacturing demands
Provide clear direction and escalation pathways to remove barriers impacting team performance
Technical Oversight (Through Team Leadership)
Ensure effective team execution and oversight of:
In-process testing to support manufacturing
Finished product testing
Microbiological testing (in-process and finished product)
Environmental Monitoring (EM) programme, including excursion management and trending
Water & Utilities monitoring programmes (PW, WFI, Clean Steam)
Ensure team members are trained, competent, and operating in compliance with procedures
Quality, Compliance & Continuous Improvement
Lead the team to ensure compliance with:
cGMP requirements
OOS/OOT investigations
Data integrity and documentation standards
Promote a “right first time” and inspection-ready mindset within the team
Lead or support deviations, CAPAs, and audit responses, ensuring team ownership
Drive continuous improvement, Lean practices, and efficiency initiatives across the team
Maintain and improve EHS standards, ensuring team participation and accountability
Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Leadership
Act as a key interface between QC, QA, Manufacturing, and external stakeholders
Ensure clear, transparent, and proactive communication of team performance, risks, and priorities
Support issue resolution through strong collaboration and decision-making
Represent QC in site meetings and escalation forums
General Responsibilities
Deputise in absence of QC Manager as required
Support complaint investigations, LIRs, and Trackwise approvals
Ensure service levels are met for all internal and external customers
Work with LIMS System Admins to optimise laboratory systems
Participate in recruitment, audits, and budget processes
PRINCIPAL QUALIFICATION:
Degree-qualified in a relevant discipline or equivalent
Background in science or engineering is preferred.
Experience in the pharmaceutical or regulated manufacturing environment is desirable, but not essential.

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Proven people management experience in a QC or GMP environment (essential)
Strong knowledge of Quality Systems, cGMP, and laboratory operations
Experience overseeing microbiology, EM, water systems, and in-process testing desirable
Basic experience in an FDA-regulated environment.
