The mission of the UI Platform team is to deliver a cohesive, modern and accessible experience across all of Reddit’s platforms.

As a web engineer on the UI Platform team, you will help evolve Reddit’s cross-platform design system and UI architecture that powers experiences across the company. You will build reusable components, improve platform capabilities, and help establish frontend patterns that enable product teams to ship high-quality experiences efficiently. This role has broad scope and impact, helping shape the future of frontend development at Reddit.

What You’ll Do:

  • Evolve Reddit’s cross-platform design system by expanding its capabilities and developing higher-level reusable components that accelerate product development while maintaining consistency and quality.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product teams, designers, and engineers to ensure the design system and UI platform effectively support real product needs.
  • Improve web performance at scale, contributing to frontend architecture, rendering patterns, and performance-focused development practices that make performance a built-in feature of the platform.
  • Advance accessibility across the platform, building accessible components, patterns, tooling, and documentation that help teams adopt WCAG best practices by default.
  • Strengthen frontend developer experience, contributing to shared tooling, documentation, and platform improvements that help engineers build reliable, consistent UI across Reddit’s products.

You Have:

  • 6+ years of software engineering experience, with a track record of leading cross-functional projects and delivering solutions with broad product impact.
  • Experience building and maintaining shared UI platforms, such as design systems, component libraries, or frontend infrastructure used across multiple teams.
  • Deep experience with modern web platform engineering:
    • TypeScript/JavaScript, Node.js, bundlers (e.g., Vite, Rollup, Webpack), and Node performance observability tools.
    • Experience with one or more front-end web frameworks such as React, Vue or Angular or Lit.
  • A strong understanding of UI architecture and performance, including designing scalable component APIs, improving rendering performance, and optimizing bundle size or asset delivery.
  • Familiarity with web accessibility best practices (WCAG) and an interest in building components, tooling, or documentation that help teams ship accessible experiences by default.
  • You embody Reddit’s core value of “Evolve” — you embrace ambiguity, seek feedback, and continuously improve your craft and the platform you help build.

Benefits:

  • Comprehensive Healthcare Benefits and Income Replacement Programs
  • 401k with Employer Match
  • Global Benefit programs that fit your lifestyle, from workspace to professional development to caregiving support
  • Family Planning Support
  • Gender-Affirming Care
  • Mental Health & Coaching Ben
