Position Overview

Woolpert is hiring a Data Engineering Manager to join our dynamic Data Analytics Team. This position reports to the Director of Data Analytics and is responsible for leading our data engineering function as we continue our enterprise migration to Snowflake and modernize our analytics ecosystem. This role will oversee the design, development, and optimization of our data pipelines, models, and analytics infrastructure while partnering closely with Finance, IT, and business leaders to deliver high-quality, trusted data. 

The ideal candidate brings deep experience with Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, and Power BI, along with strong SQL/DAX capabilities, and a solid understanding of financial analytics and reporting needs.

What You Will Do:

Leadership & Strategy 

  • Lead and mentor a team of data engineers, ensuring high performance, strong collaboration, and continuous skill development.
  • Define and drive the data engineering roadmap aligned with enterprise analytics strategy.
  • Partner with Finance, BI, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into scalable data solutions.

Architecture & Engineering 

  • Oversee the design, build, and maintenance of data pipelines, data models, and ETL/ELT processes across Snowflake and Microsoft Fabric.
  • Architect and optimize Snowflake environments, including warehouse sizing, performance tuning, security, and cost management. 
  • Lead the development of robust semantic models and datasets to support Power BI reporting and self-service
  • Ensure data quality, governance, and documentation standards are consistently applied.

Analytics & Modeling 

  •  Build and maintain enterprise grade data models (star/snowflake schemas, fact/dimension structures). 
  • Support Finance with data structures that enable forecasting, GL reporting, profitability analysis, and other financial analytics.
  • Collaborate with BI developers to ensure models are optimized for Power BI performance and usability. 

Operational Excellence 

  • Implement best practices for CI/CD, version control, testing, and deployment of data pipelines and models.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data refreshes, pipeline failures, and performance issues.
  • Drive automation and efficiency improvements across the data engineering lifecycle.

 What You Will Bring:

  • 7+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or related fields.
  • 2+ years of experience leading or managing technical teams.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake (data modeling, performance tuning, security, ELT). 
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric and Power BI (datasets, semantic models, DAX). 
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL and working knowledge of DAX. 
  • Proven experience building and maintaining scalable data models and pipelines. 
  •  Understanding of financial data structures (GL, forecasting, budgeting, revenue, etc.).
