The Opportunity
In this analytical and collaborative role, you’ll help ensure AMA’s compensation programs are competitive, equitable, and aligned with our organizational goals. As a Compensation Specialist, you’ll support the design, administration, and execution of compensation programs that help attract, retain, and reward great people across the organization.
Working closely with the Director, HR Technology & Total Rewards and the broader HR team, you’ll leverage tools like Workday Advanced Compensation to support annual compensation cycles, maintain salary structures, and provide insights that guide compensation decisions.

How You’ll Make an Impact
- Administer AMA’s compensation programs, including base pay structures and job evaluation processes.
- Support the annual compensation cycle, including performance, merit, and variable pay programs.
- Conduct market pricing and benchmarking using compensation survey data to help ensure competitive and equitable pay practices.
- Manage and optimize Workday Advanced Compensation modules, including configuration, eligibility rules, and compensation plans.
- Execute and troubleshoot merit and bonus events, ensuring smooth processes and accurate data.
- Analyze internal and external salary data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
- Prepare compensation reports and insights to support HR and business leaders in decision-making.
- Collaborate with HR Technology, Finance, and other internal partners to ensure data accuracy and alignment across systems and processes.
What You Bring to the Table
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Human Resources or a related field.
- 3–5 years of progressive experience in compensation administration or a related Total Rewards role.
- Strong understanding of compensation fundamentals including job evaluation, salary structures, market pricing, incentive design, and pay equity.
- Experience utilizing and configuring Workday Advanced Compensation.
- Strong analytical and data management skills, including advanced proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, lookups, modeling).
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate data.
- Ability to clearly communicate compensation concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or Certified Human Resources Professional (CPHR), or progress toward certification, is considered an asset.
