Description of Work

This position will serve as an Administrative Associate II and is a multi-unit support role, floating between the Cumberland Bridge, Cumberland Maintenance, and Roadside Environmental offices. The primary responsibility of this position is answering incoming calls, determining the nature and urgency of those calls and providing routine information to callers or directing calls to appropriate staff. This position is the primary point of contact for all office visitors. This position performs a wide variety of office and clerical duties to accomplish the processing of information, documents and materials. Essential job duties include, but not limited to, entry and filing. This position will operate a personal computer and use a variety of applications including, but not limited to, SAP, Beacon, Workday, TIMS, Microsoft Word and Excel. This position utilizes a variety of office machines including, but not limited to, printers, copiers, calculators and shredders. The individual in this position must maintain a high degree of accuracy and multi-task in a fast-paced office.

Additional Expectations:
General knowledge of office work procedures, methods and practices. Ability to utilize Personnel Manual and Policy and Procedures Manual. Ability to work independently, prioritize daily tasks, process technical information and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to operate computer, copy machine, fax machine, multi-line telephone system and scanner. Ability to present information clearly and concisely in oral and written form in order to communicate with the public, DOT employees and governmental officials. Ability to utilize office equipment and other technology (software and systems) to meet work needs. Ability to stoop and bend for filing purposes. Selected applicant will be expected to legally operate a motor vehicle. SAP experience preferred. Microsoft Office experience preferred. Position requires work during adverse weather such as snow and/or ice, tornadoes, hurricanes, etc. which can lead to working extended daily hours, weekends and holidays. May require work during non-traditional work hours, including nights, weekends, holidays and times of emergency.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Salary Grade and Salary Range:  NC02 - $31,200 - $51,249

Management prefers applicants with the following:

  • Customer service experience, including resolving customer issues.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office using programs such as Access, Word, and Excel.

  • Experience in completing and/or maintaining records and reports.

  • Experience interpreting and/or explaining policies, procedures, and laws. Experience with letter writing, using correct spelling, punctuation and proofreading.

Minimum Education and Experience

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and (1) one year of administrative experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
