About the role

Job Purpose:                  

This role will focus on driving sustainable growth of the Individual Health (LIH) portfolio through data-driven pricing strategy, portfolio diagnostics, and targeted commercial actions. The position will partner closely with Pricing, Marketing, and Distribution to identify growth opportunities, improve conversion and retention, and enhance portfolio profitability.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead portfolio growth analytics and strategy for LIH products, leveraging actuarial, customer, and distribution insights to identify growth levers;
  • Drive end-to-end diagnostics of sales and conversion funnel, including lead quality, pricing competitiveness, and customer behavior;
  • Develop and recommend targeted pricing and campaign strategies to improve new business growth, retention, and portfolio mix;
  • Partner with Marketing and Distribution to design and implement growth initiatives, including promotions, segmentation strategies, and channel-specific actions;
  • Monitor and assess portfolio performance (sales, VNB, retention, claims emergence) and proactively recommend actions to optimize growth vs. profitability trade-offs;
  • Support strategic initiatives (e.g. DTC, digital, broker expansion) by providing pricing and financial insights to shape growth direction;
  • Collaborate with Pricing team to translate growth insights into actionable pricing refinements, while not directly owning BAU pricing production;
  • Build and maintain analytical frameworks and tools to track growth performance and support decision-making;
  • Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to senior stakeholders to support timely and effective decision-making.

Critical Tasks and Expected Contributions/Results:

  • Develop structured portfolio diagnostic frameworks to identify key drivers of growth and underperformance (e.g. conversion leakage, channel effectiveness, product competitiveness);
  • Deliver regular portfolio performance insights with clear, actionable recommendations to improve sales, VNB, and retention;
  • Support and co-lead growth initiatives and campaigns, including financial assessment, design input, and post-implementation review;
  • Provide pricing and financial input into business cases for new initiatives, partnerships, or channel expansion;
  • Enhance customer and segment-level understanding to inform targeted growth strategies;
  • Work closely with the core Pricing team to ensure insights are reflected in pricing strategy and product positioning;
  • Develop clear, concise materials and presentations for senior management and cross-functional forums;
  • Drive continuous improvement in analytics capabilities, tools, and reporting to support portfolio management.

Experience/Knowledge, Education and Other Requirements:

  • Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related disciplines
  • Progress towards actuarial qualification (Fellowship preferred but not mandatory)
  • ~5–8 years of actuarial or analytics experience; experience in health pricing or portfolio management preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to work with large datasets
  • Experience with pricing models, profitability analysis, and business performance tracking
  • Knowledge of LIH / VHIS products and Hong Kong market is an advantage
  • Strong communication skills with ability to present insights clearly to non-technical stakeholders
  • Self-driven, able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
