Job Description

About Aurelian

Aurelian builds AI tools that help 911 centers handle more with less, so telecommunicators can stay focused on what matters most and communities get the response they need.

AVA is a conversational AI agent that answers non-emergency calls; the agent routes, triages, and resolves the calls without any human intervention. By handling administrative calls like noise complaints, lost dogs, and parking inquiries, AVA eliminates hold times and lets call-takers focus their energy on actual emergencies.

CORA supports call-takers on the calls that matter most. CORA is an on-screen assistant that delivers real-time SOP checklists, smart reminders, and contextual guidance as an emergency call unfolds, so dispatchers stay calm, consistent, and confident when every second counts. When AVA detects an emergency mid-call, it transfers the caller to a telecommunicator and passes along the caller details, location, incident type, and key statements directly into CORA. The call-taker never starts from scratch.

The problem we're solving is serious. The average emergency communications center is 30% understaffed nationwide. Staffing shortages drive burnout and attrition, which makes the shortage worse. Meanwhile, 60-80% of the calls coming in aren't even emergencies at all. Aurelian addresses both sides of that equation: AVA reduces unnecessary call volume, and CORA makes every emergency call more manageable for the people handling it.

Aurelian is live in centers across the country, answering thousands of non-emergency calls every day, and is backed by New Enterprise Associates and Y Combinator. Aurelian is growing rapidly; we are hiring people who want to help scale this work and make a real difference in public safety infrastructure for communities across the country.

Why Join Us

This role is perfect for someone early in their career (2–5 years of experience) looking to step into a high-trust, high-exposure position that touches nearly every part of the business. As Chief of Staff, you’ll work directly with the CEO to drive strategic priorities, streamline internal operations, and accelerate decision-making.

You’ll work on a mix of short-term problems and long-term planning—whether it’s shaping a go-to-market play, supporting fundraising prep, coordinating executive alignment, or partnering with marketing to scale our event strategy. You’ll have a front-row seat to how a startup scales, and the opportunity to take on more ownership quickly.

What You’ll Be Doing

Support CEO and Leadership Team

  • Act as a thought partner and right hand to the CEO—helping triage requests, prioritize initiatives, and prepare for key meetings and decisions.

  • Create and manage internal documentation, presentations, and reporting that help leadership stay aligned and informed.

Drive Special Projects

  • Lead high-impact, cross-functional initiatives across GTM, product and operations

  • Help push initiatives from 0→1 by doing research, building structure, and tracking progress.

Build Operating Rhythm

  • Support weekly and quarterly planning processes, OKRs, and internal comms cadence.

  • Help prepare materials and organize meetings for exec syncs, board updates, investor check-ins, and offsites.

Partner on Events and Marketing Strategy

  • Collaborate with marketing and GTM teams to support conference and event strategy—helping coordinate logistics, track ROI, and ensure executive alignment at high-stakes industry events.

  • Assist in prepping CEO and senior leadership for speaking engagements and customer-facing opportunities.

Research & Strategy

  • Analyze market trends, competitive intelligence, and customer feedback to inform product and growth strategy.

  • Support fundraising efforts and corporate development work with research and diligence.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Have 2–5 years of experience in management consulting, investment banking, venture capital, or at a high-growth startup.

  • Thrive in fast-paced environments where priorities change quickly and ambiguity is the norm.

  • Are a structured thinker and strong communicator, comfortable making sense of chaos and driving clarity.

  • Have a “get it done” attitude—you’re equally comfortable building a financial model, interviewing a customer, or pulling together a board deck.

  • Are excited by cross-functional work and want broad exposure to marketing, sales, product, and strategy.

  • Care deeply about impact. You want your work to matter and are excited to help fix a real, nationwide problem.

  • Willing to travel to assist with Conferences
