The Opportunity
The EHS (Environmental, Health and Safety) Senior Engineer is the person responsible for managing the implementation and sustaining of all EHS programs according to local (government) and external (corporate) regulations and standards. Ensure that Environmental Management System is established and deployed within Abbott in accordance with recognized international standards; Proposing, developing, monitoring and improving policies, procedures and work instructions in order to ensure that the company meets and complies with all applicable corporate and local Environmental Health and Safety Standards and regulations. Assures appropriate corrective action is taken where health and environmental hazards exist.
What You’ll Do
- Manage training of employees and contractors. Ensure Management and full compliance of Abbott EHS technical and managerial standards.
- Coordinate on-site EHS inspections, supervision and audits. Ensure they are timely and effectively performed and documented.
- Evaluate and ensure procedures are update and compliant with all applicable local and international EHS laws through knowledge of appropriate regulations.
- Assure compliance with the daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly EHS metric reports to corporate and applicable stakeholders.
- Manage the Inspection and Compliance verification program of the facility (Check List), in order to identify potential hazards or legal findings, analyzing operating records and reports, documenting all inquiries regarding safety, environmental or industrial hygiene issues, implementing corrective action where necessary.
- Ensure that established procedures are followed by ALL contractors. Lead the contractors management – EHS performance continuous improvement process.
- Assure that all applicable EHS compliance documentation (both digital and hard copy) is well maintained and ready to be audited by third party auditors.
- Work directly with the EHS engineering staff to identify and evaluate potential hazards and risk, offering technical advice and suggestions and recommendations for corrections to be applied. Supervise EHS engineers in order establish, support and maintain the Environmental, Health and Safety programs for Abbott.
- Coordinate with the business leading partner for operations in the implementation and sustaining of ALL EHS programs in order to reduce workplace injuries/illnesses and environmental impacts, ensuring that established procedures are followed by ALL contractors.
- Assure that ALL relevant EHS Training Programs are developed, delivered and recorded on a timely and effectively manner.
- Lead the safety, health and environmental risk assessment, and support the EHS team in developing risk control measures.
- Supervise EHS engineers in order establish, support and maintain the Environmental, Health and Safety programs for Abbott.
- Reports to EHS management on the performance of the EHS programs for review.
- Interface with the corporation to achieve necessary environmental goals and ensure site complies with local legislation.
- Direct communications about EHS strategies, targets and objectives within Abbott. Assure that ALL relevant EHS Training Programs are developed, delivered and recorded on a timely and effectively manner.
- Stablish full compliance with all environmental permits and licenses required for Abbott site operations Direct the establishing, maintaining and continuously improvement process of all EHS programs, by determining and leading the safety, health and environmental risk assessment, and support the EHS team in developing risk control measures.
- Responsible of establishing, maintaining and continuously improve all EHS programs.
Shift: Admin (Monday – Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm)

Required Qualifications
- Education: EHS Bachelor,
- Experience/Background: EHS Management Systems an Regulatory Compliance
- ISO 14001 Auditor Certificate
- Critical hazards control, sound technical knowledge
- Experience with emergency response, life safety and the proper handling of biological and industrial waste materials.
- Computer skills. Use PowerPoint, Excel spreadsheets, and/or Microsoft Project.
- Must have knowledge in OSHA Industry Standards and ISO 14000 standards.
- Demonstrate leadership, teamwork, customer service and decision-making skills
- Experience developing EHS policies and procedures in Occupational Health, Safety and ergonomics areas and assuring their alignment with governmental regulations.
