The Senior Software Engineer will perform software activities focused on assisting the Air Force move forward with digital transformation. Successful candidates will have strong problem solving and critical thinking skills. The work location is fully onsite at the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency (NGA) in St. louis, Missouri.
Job Responsibilities:
- Design and implement new capabilities and custom software solutions to solve unique government customer problems
- Follow best practices to write well-tested, high performing code
- Identify and resolve issues found in existing code
- Integrate capabilities with external services and tools
- Participate in code reviews and mentor team members
- Communicate status and technical details with customers
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or relevant STEM field
- Active TS/SCI Security Clearance
Required Experience
- 12 + years experience writing, maintaining, debugging, and testing code
- Experience with RESTful web services
- Experience with one or more of the following programming languages: Golang, C++, C#, Java, or JavaScript Frameworks.
- Experience with version control software (e.g., Git)
- Experience with bug/issue tracking software such as JIRA
Required Skills
- Ability to communicate technical details of work
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment and take ownership for segments of a project
- Strong oral and written communication and organizational skills
- Open, team-oriented, with a strong desire to learn
Desired Experience
- Experience with containerized deployment such as Docker
- Experience utilizing document store databases, such as Elasticsearch, OpenSearch and MongoDB
- Experience with Kubernetes and Helm
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines utilizing Gitlab pipelines, Argo CD, and/or Jenkins.
- 5+ years in working with military & intelligence systems, e.g. Maritime, Safety of Navigation, Precise Navigation & Timing, Geodetic, Geophysical, and photogrammetric sciences
- Experience with building and deploying software in the Intelligence Community
- Experience supporting intelligence community or DoD missions, particularly within GEOINT environments
- Knowledge of geospatial technologies and data visualization techniques.
- At least 5 year experience in geospatial data management, data governance, or data stewardship roles, preferably in a complex organizational environment.
