We’re hiring a Software Engineer II to build and ship customer-facing experiences across the Mindbody consumer ecosystem. This role blends Android development with meaningful backend ownership, and you’ll contribute across layers to deliver end-to-end outcomes with a high bar for quality, performance, and maintainability.
- Build and ship Android product features that are reliable, performant, and easy to maintain
- Contribute to backend services and APIs that power mobile experiences, including implementation, debugging, and incremental improvements
- Own well-scoped projects end-to-end with guidance, from requirements and design through rollout and post-launch follow-ups
- Write clean, maintainable code with appropriate automated tests (unit and integration where applicable)
- Participate in code reviews and strengthen the codebase through refactors and incremental modernization
- Debug production issues and participate in on-call and incident response as part of the team rotation
- Partner with Product, Design, QA, and peer engineers to deliver iteratively and communicate tradeoffs clearly
- Document key decisions and keep updates current in Notion as the team’s source of truth
- 3+ years of software engineering experience (or equivalent practical experience)
- Experience shipping production Android apps
- Kotlin preferred, or strong Java experience with an expectation to ramp into Kotlin
- Experience contributing to backend systems (services and APIs) or demonstrated ability and interest to ramp quickly
- Strong CS fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, debugging, and system design for mid-sized components
- Experience with API design or consumption, including authentication patterns and performance considerations
- Familiarity with observability practices (logs, metrics, traces), incident response, and production debugging
- Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, and release processes
- Android feature development and platform improvements
- Mobile-to-backend integration, including API consumption, contract iteration, and reliability improvements
- Backend capabilities that unblock mobile initiatives, such as service endpoints, data shaping, latency improvements, and correctness fixes
- Cross-stack initiatives as priorities evolve, with flexible ownership across surfaces
- Partner with engineers across Android, iOS, backend, web, QA, Product, and Design
- Collaborate in a cross-functional environment with clear communication around status, risks, and tradeoffs
