Director of Security - Amanpulo
Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Director of Security responsible for managing the security and safety operations of the resort, ensuring the safety of guests, staff, and property. This role involves overseeing all security staff, managing emergencies, and maintaining strong relationships with local authorities. The Director of Security upholds Aman’s Brand Promises and Seva standards, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and FSMS where applicable.
Responsibilities
Our people
- Supervise and manage all security staff, ensuring that they adhere to Aman’s Brand Promises and Seva standards, always maintaining professionalism and discipline.
- Conduct regular training for security personnel, focusing on emergency response, safety procedures, and FSMS protocols where relevant.
- Promote teamwork and high morale among the security team, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
- Work closely with the Human Resources Manager on staff coaching, counselling, and development programs.
Guest Experience/Operation
- Ensure the security and safety of all hotel guests, staff, and assets, responding swiftly to any incidents or emergencies.
- Oversee daily patrols of the resort, ensuring that all areas, including villas, offices, and public spaces, are secure.
- Work closely with the engineering department to ensure that emergency equipment, such as fire alarms and extinguishers, are maintained and ready for use.
- Monitor guest' safety during their stay, ensuring that staff promptly report and address any security concerns.
- Coordinate with local authorities, such as the police, in case of thefts, robberies, or other emergencies affecting guests or the resort.
- Ensure the safety of food storage areas, implementing FSMS protocols to prevent unauthorized access and ensure food safety.
- Serve as the fire captain, ensuring the proper implementation of fire safety procedures.
- Monitor the execution of health, safety, and security programs and report findings to the General Manager.
- Conduct daily briefings with the security team to ensure smooth handovers between shifts.
- Take immediate action in the case of hazardous situations, ensuring the safety of guests and staff.
- Assist other department heads in addressing guest service needs related to security.
Administration
- Assist the General Manager in preparing the security department’s annual operating budget, ensuring that all expenditure is well-controlled.
- Maintain accurate records of all security incidents, staff schedules, and equipment inspections, ensuring proper documentation.
- Conduct regular inspections of staff lockers, key inventory, and hotel belongings to maintain strict security control.
- Oversee the delivery of donations to local government and village offices, ensuring all transactions are properly documented.
Financial
- Assist in managing the department’s budget by controlling the use of security supplies and equipment.
- Ensure cost-effective procurement of security equipment and supplies, working with vendors to maintain adequate stock levels.
- Monitor expenses related to security operations, ensuring that the department operates within budgetary constraints.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in security management, Law Enforcement, or any related field
- Usually 8–15 years of progressive security experience.
- 5+ years in management role.
- Experience managing security operations & surveillance systems, risk management programs, emergency response & incident management, budgeting, procurement, and compliance
- Background in law enforcement, military, or corporate security is an advantage.
- Strategic planning and policy development.
