SUPERVISOR, FOOD SERVICES FACILITIES
Join our mission-critical Food Services team as a Facilities Supervisor, overseeing maintenance for a high-volume, enterprise-scale campus operation. The Food Services Facilities Supervisor is a critical leadership role that oversees facilities operations and maintenance for the Food Services Department at SpaceX. This position ensures zero unplanned interruptions of services, keeps maintenance costs low, manages vendors efficiently, and maintains high standards of cleanliness, safety, and functionality. By leading a team of technicians and coordinating third-party providers, the supervisor enhances operational efficiency, supports daily food service operations, and reflects SpaceX values through superior facility care for employees, customers, visitors, and VIPs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead a team of facilities technicians, HVAC techs, and maintenance personnel responsible for all food service and general facilities operations (mechanics, HVAC, septic, water, trash, build-outs, general maintenance, and food service equipment) to ensure zero unplanned interruptions and full accessibility for daily operations
- Develop, plan, and execute routine preventative maintenance and cleaning schedules for food services equipment and facilities against departmental, company, and manufacturer standards; administer an effective periodic maintenance program
- Manage third-party service providers to ensure services meet corporate standards, contract terms, and maximum value; negotiate contracts, compare service costs, provide troubleshooting reports, and escort vendors as needed
- Oversee maintenance, repair, installation, assembly, and advanced troubleshooting of food service equipment and launch/mission support infrastructure (buildings, HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, septic, water, grounds, fire suppression, generators, fuel storage); perform or direct intermediate to advanced repairs using hand/power tools
- Monitor and direct construction and site improvement projects to ensure work is performed correctly, on-budget, on-time, with minimal disruption; prioritize tasks to drive efficiency and eliminate blockers
- Coordinate and prioritize departmental maintenance tickets, workloads, and time management for the team; identify/source parts, maintain tool/equipment inventory with limited supervision
- Drive team performance through coaching, development, training others, and providing follow-up communication/documentation verbally and in writing to customers, vendors, and stakeholders
- Utilize equipment like forklifts, pallet jacks, dollies, and hand carts for moving food service equipment, parts, or products; monitor building management and automated systems (HVAC, fluid plumbing, etc.)
- Anticipate needs, develop innovative solutions for continuous improvement, and align projects with business objectives
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 5+ years of professional experience in facilities management, maintenance, warehouse, production, and/or food service operations
- 3+ years of experience leading a team or projects
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in construction, engineering, or related field
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Jira) and asset management software
- Experience managing budgets, third-party vendors, contracts, housing, and preventative maintenance plans
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of HVAC, refrigeration, electrical work, food safety/sanitation practices, building management systems, and automated monitoring (HVAC, plumbing, fire suppression, generators, fuel storage)
- Experience using hand/power tools, forklifts, and coordinating/planning work for others
- High attention to detail, cleanliness standards, and professionalism
