Summary:

The director is responsible for the development and overall operations of Arkansas Children’s behavioral health services including the eating disorders program, ECHO coordination, services for autism, behavioral health response teams, and other behavioral health programs as assigned. Responsibilities include business planning, execution of approved plans and leading operational areas to excellence. Responsible for integrating psychiatric and mental health services within the context of acute medical care provided in AC facilities, and will work closely with AC leaders and medical staff to ensure an inclusive approach to the care of children with such needs. Serve as the administrative dyad to the child and adolescent division chief and the chief psychologist. Will partner with the office of strategy and growth initiatives to initiate and build relationships with external entities serving patients with mental health needs. Will work in conjunction with other AC leaders to ensure that the expanded mission of Arkansas Children’s to include behavioral, mental and emotional health, is achieved with success.

Required Education:

High school diploma or GED or equivalent

Recommended Education:

Bachelor's degree in a related field of study.

Required Work Experience:

High School Diploma/GED and 7 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership role. In lieu of a High School Diploma/GED, 9 years of experience with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

Recommended Work Experience:

Formal education may substitute for work experience on a year-for-year basis (eg., one year of education = one year of experience)

1. Creates a sense of excitement within the organization and actively promotes the AC mission and expansion of psychiatric and mental health services.
2. Serves as the expert in the development of programs and services to address the needs of patients with psychiatric and mental health conditions and their families.
3. Manages the planning, development, implementation, operation and evaluation of programs and services. Identifies the needs and costs for new programs and services and ensures projects are completed with high quality standards.
4. Responsive to requests from the office of strategy and growth initiatives to build relationships with local and state agencies and other external entities.
5. Identifies opportunities for philanthropy and works with AC Foundation to secure such funding.
6. Maintains current knowledge of psychiatric and mental health and related conditions and local, state and national legislation and policy related to such.
