POSITION SUMMARY:
To inspect, repair, adjust, calibrate and maintain all electrical and mechanical equipment in plant. Performs preventive maintenance as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Inspects mill equipment at the time of malfunction, determines when immediate shut down of equipment is necessary to minimize damage.
- Determine cause of malfunction and determine best way of making repair.
- Make repairs as necessary. Adjusts equipment.
- Completes reports as required.
- Responsible for maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Follows all safety rules and regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to communicate in English.
- Ability to use basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplying, dividing, counting and the use of tape measure.
- Ability to read and understand all safety operating procedures and to use all safety features and equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Must possess valid, current forklift certification.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Ability to use the required personal protective equipment at all times.
- Moderate computer skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Requires ability to walk, stand, carry materials, stoop, kneel, bend and twist.
- Maximum unassisted lift – 50 lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and chemicals.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud and requires hearing protection.
- Safety shoes and eye protection are also required.
- Temperature environment 0 degrees to 110 degrees.
