About the Division of Speech-Language Pathology:

When children struggles to speak, eat or be understood, it can feel overwhelming. Parents want clear answers and a plan that works. Our speech-language pathologists care for infants, children, teens and young adults with autism, childhood apraxia of speech, dysphagia (swallowing problems), speech sound disorders and many other conditions. We create individualized plans and involve families in setting meaningful goals. We partner closely with experts in ear, nose and throat (ENT), gastroenterology, pulmonary medicine, neurology, pediatric rehabilitation, occupational therapy, audiology and other specialties. Together, we help children communicate, eat safely and thrive.

Speech-Language Pathology Offers:

Innovative Therapy Options: Our team studies and uses advanced tools to improve outcomes. We are one of the few pediatric centers offering ultrasound treatment for persistent speech sound disorders.

We also provide evidence-based therapy for severe childhood apraxia of speech. Our work connects research directly to patient care.

Team Approach Across Specialties: Speech-language pathologists are active members of many specialty programs. These include feeding team, velopharyngeal insufficiency clinic, voice clinic, cochlear implant team, exercise-induced laryngeal obstruction clinic and many others. This team-based care model helps families receive coordinated evaluations and one clear plan.

National Reach with Telehealth Access: Half of our patients come from outside the local area. Families travel from across the Midwest and the U.S. for our expertise. We offer telehealth services for many follow-up visits. This makes ongoing care easier for families who live far from Cincinnati.

Measured Outcomes and Family Partnerships: We participate in the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association National Outcomes Measurement System (NOMS). This national benchmarking program helps us track progress and improve care. Families help set functional goals that matter most in daily life. Our treatment will focus on safe feeding, clear communication, and support to achieve the best possible outcomes for the child.
