Job Description
Summary
The Vice President of Operations is responsible for an array of clinical and clinical support areas.
Education/Certification
Master's Degree in Business Administration, Health Administration or a related discipline from an accredited institution or equivalent experience.
Knowledge and Work Experience
At least 10 years of progressive leadership experience culminating with high middle management or executive level role, in an acute care hospital environment, with a proven track record of collaborating with providers (both independent and employed); improving patient care, customer experience and operating margin. Experience with significant capital investments and projects required. Experience in a multi-hospital, matrixed system would be valued.
Experience in healthcare demonstrating increasing responsibility and successful results with regard to financial, clinical, quality and operational performance, both with clinical and non-clinical support areas. Preferably, candidates will have experience in administrative leadership in one or more of the following areas of responsibility: Lab/Pathology, Imaging, Clinical Nutrition Services, Respiratory, Cancer, Pharmacy, Rehabilitation.
Goals and Objectives
Build personal and professional credibility by valuing the history and culture of Concord Hospital and the successes of the organization; and by developing significant, positive and trustworthy relationships internal and external to the organization, including throughout the executive leadership team, staff across the system and key community leaders.
Establish a strong working relationship with directors, managers and staff through a style that is visible, approachable and team-oriented. Be recognized as being responsive and knowledgeable; an executive who is the “go to” person for operational problem-solving, program planning and decision-making. Focus on inclusive decision-making and emphasize individual and collective accountability. Be visible and engaging with physicians, staff members, partners and community leadership.
Continue to drive integration across the three hospitals to become a high-functioning, clinically integrated hospital and health system which is distinctly committed to the priority of delivering high-quality and affordable patient care in an extraordinary way.
Ensure that Concord Hospital operates with rigor to generate sustained financial performance, supporting access and growth initiatives of the health system. Through an operational lens, ensure Concord Hospital health system will continue to be a top ranked health system.
Identify opportunities to drive efficiency through expense utilization and through the enhancement of productivity controls.
Maintain a strong sense of team with clinical partners and promote initiatives that strengthen partnerships between physicians, advanced practice professionals, nurses and all support staff.
Recruit and retain top talent in today's competitive environment, assess and develop ancillary and support services management teams.
Responsibilities
The Vice President of Operations will be responsible for planning, organizing and directing hospital operations, select system clinical operational areas/departments and additional support services as needed. This position will oversee designated areas of responsibility and monitor productivity and overall effectiveness. The VP assists senior leaders in developing and implementing the strategic long and short-range plans in alignment with Concord Hospital health system.
The VP will be responsible for a broad range of operations issues including quality, patient access and experience, growth, budgeting, policymaking and general administration. He/she will be responsible for the administrative direction of those departments reporting directly to this position. The VP will facilitate, measure, evaluate and interpret care needs of patients and performance of staff while directing activities accordingly and meeting the directives established by the Concord Hospital CAO.
