Job Description:
The role of the Packaging Technology Engineer is to support the implementation of new packaging material, new packaging process and new product in regional factory network from finished good silos to truck loading on DRY process and from Cans to truck loading on WET process. The Regional Packaging Technology Engineer covers primary, secondary and tertiary packaging.
The Packaging Technology Engineer shares R&D specifications related to packaging process applied for manufacturing of DRY & WET products on existing manufacturing standard and for new technology. The Packaging Technology Engineer is the R&D representative for Packaging technology of Royal Canin in the region.

Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Food), related technology program or equivalent
3+ years relevant experiences in food technology development, packaging scale-up and/or implementation
Demonstrated Packaging industry experience as R&D engineer, or Quality & Food Safety
Demonstrated Factory experience
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Science, Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Food) or related technology program
Working in a company with multicultural and international features
Green belt or Black belt for Lean 6-Sigma is a plus
What will be your key responsibilities?
Support of Packaging Industrialization pillar for DRY & WET in AMERICAS,
The Packaging Technology Engineer supports the Industrialization process in the AMERICAS region by delivering Packaging Technology expertise on DRY & WET Technology.
More precisely, the Packaging Technology Engineer will be a key R&D support to deal with Packaging and process topics. She/he is part of following activities:
Support execution of Industrial test runs needed for innovation plan deployment, new Packaging material or format
Support transfer of Packaging portfolio/SKU from a factory to another.
Deliver guidance on SRC definition and support troubleshooting.
Validate & define bag allocation to support any new Packaging deployment,
Support definition of Packaging process and Packaging material specifications related to new Packaging material, to Packaging manufacturing standard upgrade and to new Packaging technology.
Support any regional must do projects like product quality improvement, Do It Best project, Business continuity project or Sustainability project.
Support definition of regional IRA for successful Implementation of new Packaging material, or new Packaging process and/or equipment.
Support factories on any technology capability performance issues
Support of Packaging Process and Packaging Material Conformance AMERICAS region,
The Packaging Technology Engineer supports the assessment of conformance of R&D specifications related to Royal Canin Packaging manufacturing standard and align practices/specifications across factory network.
More precisely, the Packaging Technology Engineer will be part of following activities:
Support Process Validation and Product Validation for new Packaging equipment and new Packaging line commissioning
Is the R&D CVS representative on the region
Follows the pre-requisites actions to process validation (part of WET commissioning) as requirement for HO0 signature
Validate detail design for project implementation (Product allocation per Packaging line, etc.)
As part of CVS project, is responsible to define and communicate the detailed plan and resources required to validate implementation of any Royal Canin product in the entire Royal Canin and Pet Nutrition production line network on low complexity project (new Packaging line or new Packaging equipment only)
Is responsible to convert standard Packaging validation protocols into operational validation protocols per line/system/subsystem/equipment to support CVS process for all standard equipment from finished good silos to truck loading on DRY process and from Cans Labelling / Pouch BBD writing to truck loading on WET process
Deliver training on process principles (process flow, principle theory, equipment added value, raw material specifications, process specifications, ….) and product quality and performance (product specifications, quality attributes checks, production sequences rules, …)
Support CVS team and PPI on protocol execution on site
Establishes reports for after protocols completion and monitor activities progress
Is responsible of Hand Over 1 (HO1) signature on small/minor project. Support DRY Global Technology specialist for Hand Over 1 signature on major/corporate project
On start-up phase she / he supports SRC implementation, product ramp-up, portfolio implementation (raw material & product),
Consolidates process & product validation lesson learned
Support transfer of process specifications related to Packaging manufacturing standard in place and monitor conformance
Execute technical audits to assess implementation and conformance of R&D process specifications on factory
Support PPI on process capability assessment and protocol execution.
Gather and analyse data (Cp, Cpk).
Report performance per site
Support transfer of Packaging material specifications related to Packaging manufacturing standard in place and monitor conformance.
Execute technical audits to assess implementation and conformance of R&D product specifications on factory
Analyse product capability (Cp, Cpk) performance per site
Support Complex problem-solving projects
Is team contributor on complex problem solving related to Packaging process.
Ensure application of robust methodology to support complex problem-solving management
