Caterpillar’s EMSM (Earthmoving Supply Management) division is hiring for Senior Product Procurement Engineer - Strategy and Governance lead in Peoria, IL!

Role Summary:

In this role as Strategy and Governance lead within EMSM team, you will be responsible for driving EMSM’s strategic initiatives related to business performance, competitiveness, and long‑term value creation. This role partners closely with senior leaders, cross‑functional teams, and global stakeholders to translate enterprise and functional strategies into actionable plans and measurable outcomes. Responsible to manage scorecards and Power BI dashboards, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment across teams and regions.

What You’ll Do (Job Duties)

  • Develop and refine business and functional strategies aligned with enterprise objectives, market trends, and customer needs.
  • Lead strategic initiatives from concept through execution, including opportunity identification, business case development, and performance tracking.
  • Work with cross‑functional leaders (e.g., Procurement, Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing) to align strategy with execution.
  • Drive change management, ensuring strategies are effectively understood, adopted, and sustained across the organization.
  • Identify and prioritize digital opportunities across platforms, processes, data, and customer experiences.
  • Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports to monitor functional KPIs, ensuring clear definitions, ownership, and standard calculation logic.
  • Establish and maintain metrics governance frameworks, including data standards, refresh cadence, and escalation rules.

  • Data-driven Decision Making: Knowledge of the data-driven decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to gather and analyze data to make organizational decisions that align with strategic business objectives and goals.
  • Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Interpersonal Relationships: Knowledge of the techniques and the ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
  • Strategic Sourcing: Knowledge of strategic sourcing methods, technologies and processes; ability to analyze, improve and re-evaluate organizational procurement process continuously.
  • Supply Chain Management: Knowledge of functions, principles and techniques used in supply chain management; ability to develop and implement strategies, practices and tools for controlling the whole processes.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Degree requirements: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
  • Experience in strategy, procurement, and supply chain.
  • Experience leading cross‑functional teams in global organizations with multiple stakeholders.
  • Hands‑on experience with Power BI, including published reports and enterprise datasets.
  • Experience developing and supporting enterprise scorecards, governance dashboards, and KPI frameworks.

Top Candidates Will Also Have

  • Familiarity with structured problem‑solving, portfolio management, and performance management frameworks.
  • Manufacturing, industrial, or global enterprise environment experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to balance long‑term strategy with short‑term execution needs including speed of delivery with data accuracy and sustainability.
  • Knowledge of defining or supporting AI, analytics, or advanced decision‑support solutions within supply or procurement contexts
  • Experience with SQL, Excel, and data transformation tools; Snowflake or similar platforms

  • Work location: IL-Peoria-Building AB Office
  • Domestic relocation assistance IS NOT available for this role

  • Travel: 5% (Domestic and International)
  • This position requires 5 days per week in the office (M-F)

Summary Pay Range:

$128,470.00 - $192,710.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
