Position Summary
Engineer I, Manufacturing Engineering is responsible for supporting and driving manufacturing excellence through process improvement, equipment management, and implementation of Thermo Fisher’s Practical Process Improvement (PPI) business system. The role will focus on sustaining PPI initiatives, improving equipment reliability and uptime, and enabling scalable operations to support future business growth.
This position plays a key role in strengthening shopfloor discipline, enhancing digital and operational processes, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals under ongoing expansion programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and sustain PPI initiatives, ensuring adherence, standardization, and continuous improvement.
- Drive end-to-end equipment management, including asset tracking, preventive maintenance coordination, performance monitoring, and lifecycle optimization.
- Manage and optimize material flow and inventory processes to ensure availability, traceability, and minimal waste.
- Collaborate with Supply Chain and Operations to support material planning, replenishment, and consumption tracking.
- Improve and sustain shopfloor excellence practices including 5S, GEMBA, and KAIZEN.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Operations, Quality) to improve equipment uptime, process efficiency, and operational reliability.
- Develop and implement standard work and training frameworks.
- Identify and execute process improvement opportunities to eliminate waste and improve productivity.
- Support digital transformation initiatives within manufacturing processes and reporting systems.
- Establish and track KPIs and metrics related to equipment utilization, process performance, and continuous improvement outcomes.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Industrial / Manufacturing or related discipline) or Master's degree in Life Sciences (Biotechnology / Microbiology / Biochemistry / Molecular Biology or related discipline).
- 2–4 years of experience in manufacturing, operations, or process engineering environment.
- Working knowledge of Lean / PPI / Six Sigma tools and methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in equipment lifecycle management and maintenance systems.
- Exposure to shopfloor management systems and digital tools.
- Certification or training in Lean / Six Sigma / PPI is an added advantage.
