About the role
The Pharmacy Tech performs routine technical and clerical tasks under pharmacist supervision, including dispensing medications and maintaining patient records. Orders and stocks inventory, supports medication preparation, and ensures accurate inventory management.
This is a part time role 24 hours per week.
Job Responsibilities:
- Under direct pharmacist supervision, perform a variety of routine technical and clerical support tasks (e.g., medication dispensing, prescription filling, mail-out order processing) within pharmaceutical services operations as per established policies and procedures.
- Prepare unit dose medications, outpatient prescriptions, and intravenous admixtures to assist in the preparation and delivery of pharmaceutical supplies.
- Support in filing and maintenance of patient records as per procedures.
- Assist in ordering, stocking, and distribution of inventory throughout the pharmacy and the institution (e.g., nursing floor, emergency supply carts) while maintaining accurate levels of inventory as directed.
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Consistently meet job expectations, adhere to policies, and deliver quality work while applying. St. Jude values and principles. Managers evaluate employee performance throughout the year—specifically through the spring and fall Check In milestones and the Annual Performance Review. All employees are encouraged to actively participate in these performance management processes.
Minimum Education and/or Training:
- High school diploma/GED required.
Minimum Experience:
- High school diploma/GED required.
- Hospital Pharmacy experience preferred (e.g., parenteral/unit dose medication preparation, medication dispensing, inventory management, drug classifications).
- Some experience with software tools to maintain documentation/ records preferred.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by Law:
- (LC: PHRMTCH-TN) Registration of Pharmacy Technician License with the State of Tennessee required. Registration must be renewed every two (2) years.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by SJCRH Only:
- (LC: PTCB-PTECH) Pharmacy Technician Certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required.
- Apexus Certified Expert (ACE), Pharmacy Basic Life Support (CPR) preferred.
Compensation
In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
