About the team and the role:

eBay, Inc. seeks Data Science Manager in San Jose, CA

What you will accomplish:

Job Duties: Deliver business insights to the Business Units within eBay. Partner with Business Units to address strategic and operational questions facing the business including user behavior, performance measurement, and product and marketing efficiency. Collaborate with the Business Units and other cross-functional teams to meet their analytic needs and conduct extensive analyses of eBay's rich data, generating insights, and communicating those insights to the team to guide the project roadmap. Drive intensive analytical procedures to enhance data operations. Offer strategic perspective, sound business judgment, deep analytical capabilities, and collaborative working style to enhance productivity. Implement Ad Hoc projects. Analyze questions that regularly arise regarding company data.  Understand new stakeholder needs and determine what information is required to answer questions or provide insights on the data, identify the people, processes, and systems required to answer the questions, and execute and pull it all together. Implement analysis for transformation projects. Partial telecommuting permitted from within a commutable distance.

What you will bring:

Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology and Analytics or a closely related field plus two years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.

Special Skill Requirements:

1.    SQL – Experience with advanced SQL techniques for data manipulation and retrieval, including complex joins, subqueries, indexing strategies and optimizing query performance for large-scale databases, ensuring efficient data processing and analysis. (2 years)
2.    Online Experimentation - Experience in designing and executing online experiments, utilizing A/B testing, multivariate testing methodologies and experience in analyzing experimental data to optimize user experience and maximize conversion rates, informed by a deep understanding of statistical significance and causal inference. (2 years)
3.    Python – Experience with Python programming for data science applications, including machine learning, data wrangling, automation and experience in leveraging libraries such as pandas, NumPy, and scikit-learn to build robust analytical frameworks and scalable solutions. (2 years)
4.    Tableau – Experience with Tableau for data visualization and dashboard creation, enabling dynamic and interactive presentations of data insights. Skilled in transforming raw data into compelling visual narratives that drive strategic decision-making and stakeholder engagement. (2 years)


Salary: $174,304.00-221,100.00 per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Additional Details

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
