Thermo Fisher Scientific has an excellent opportunity for an ambitious and driven qualified Financial Accountant to join the Finance Projects Team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a global team supporting Finance Business partners with Projects. The team provides financial controllership expertise for various projects including system implementation, Quote to Cash Projects and ad hoc automations.

The successful candidate will support system implementation and automations within the Finance Project team to ensure financial accuracy and enable compliance and controls of any implementations or automations. You will be expected to demonstrate yourself as a knowledge leader in the Record to Report area; able to investigate and resolve accounting problems. You will be a highly motivated and detail oriented individual with excellent communication, coaching and organisational skills relevant to the role. You are a self-starter, technically astute, and have the ability to prioritise and follow through in a dynamic, corporate environment. You will be the key point of contact for our internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand US GAAP end to end financials
  • Analyse profit and loss account and balance sheet transitions from non core ERP’s, including HFM mapping
  • Understand and provide controls and governance for journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations within ERP implementations
  • Review general ledger activity, researching and correcting account discrepancies as part of project cutovers
  • Key point of contact for internal stakeholders
  • Provide automation and financial controls for financial reporting for the ERP Implementations/QTC
  • Support Change management ensuring training and documentation is available for new users
  • Communicate with project team and wider stakeholders on project milestones and progress, identifying any areas of risk and providing a mitigation plan
  • Provide training and documentation to complete change management requirements for all new process or system users.
  • Proactively participate in PPI (Practical Process Improvement) initiatives, including Gemba Walks, Just Do Its, Kaizen events
     

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Qualified Accountant (CA, CIMA or ACCA)
  • Able to organise and prioritise multiple complex situations
  • Accuracy is required in performing all aspects of the role
  • High level of proactivity to drive continuous improvement
  • Deep technical accounting expertise
  • Strong investigative, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Comfortable communicating with and presenting to various stakeholders
  • Solid understanding of US GAAP (Desired but not crucial)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to interact at various levels inside and outside the organisation
  • Proficient in MS Excel
  • Working knowledge of ERPs (Desired but not essential)
