About This Role:
As the Associate Director of Enterprise Architecture for Global Commercial & Medical (GCM) IT, you will define and govern the technology architecture supporting Biogen's GCM operations. In this senior role, you will ensure that technology solutions align with business strategy, regulatory, and compliance requirements, resulting in secure, scalable systems that deliver clear business value. Acting as the lead architect for the Commercial and Medical domains, you will own the target-state architecture and integration strategy across a diverse ecosystem of platforms and applications, proactively mitigating duplication, fragmentation, and integration risks. Your role involves translating strategic priorities, such as new product launches, international expansions, and acquisitions, into actionable technology roadmaps. By guiding key technology decisions, you will simplify the environment, accelerate time-to-market, and maximize long-term value, fitting into the broader business structure as a pivotal player in shaping Biogen's technological future.
What You’ll Do:
- Maintain and enforce enterprise architecture governance and standards across the GCM IT domain.
- Serve as the primary architecture leader for strategic GCM IT initiatives, shaping solution designs and guiding key architectural decisions.
- Lead GCM’s integration architecture strategy and data ecosystem design to ensure consistent, scalable data flows.
- Develop multi-year enterprise architecture and business capability roadmaps to guide system evolution.
- Provide thought leadership on emerging technologies and integrate valuable new capabilities into the GCM architecture.
- Mentor and guide Solution Architects and technical teams to instill architecture best practices.
- Represent GCM in enterprise architecture forums to ensure Commercial & Medical needs are considered in cross-functional decisions.

Required Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of progressively responsible IT experience, with at least 3–5 years in architecture leadership roles.
- Extensive experience in Enterprise & Solution Architecture within life sciences, particularly in Commercial & Medical domains.
- Deep knowledge of enterprise integration patterns and data architecture.
- Familiarity with formal architecture frameworks and modeling techniques.
- Strong leadership, communication, and influencing skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Advanced degree (e.g., MS, MBA).
- Familiarity with Customer Data Platforms (CDPs).
- Experience in Agile software development, particularly SAFe.
