As a Senior Design Engineer within Product Development Engineering team (Retail & Rental Gensets) of Caterpillar, you will serve as,

  • An experienced Design lead on complex projects and assignments for end-to-end design and development of Diesel and Gas generator sets.
  • This will involve Genset system design comprising generator layout assemblies from Concept selection to designing sub systems/components like Base frame, Enclosure, Control panel, Breaker panel, Air Intake, Exhaust, Fuel & Cooling systems for Structural, Noise and Thermal requirements.
  • You will also perform Design calculations, detailed design, Validation using CAE tools, review of drawings and assisting facility on proto builds.
  • Developing and documenting functional requirements and translating into detailed design documents by collaborating with SMEs, Project Leads, Electrical and Mechanical engineers.
  • Completes current work according to assigned priorities on time.

 Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical/Automobile/Aerospace Engineering from accredited Indian or Global Engineering schools
  • Minimum experience of 10 years in structural design from concept till manufacturing.
  •      3+ years of experience working on sheet metal design and handling large assemblies.
  •       Experience in interpreting weld drawings,
  •       Experience in handling supplier queries from manufacturing and assembly.
  •       Good understanding of structural ,thermal & Airflow calculations and material selection.
  •       Experience in routing of hoses and selection of sockets, fuel gauge etc.
  • Must have demonstrated excellent analytical skills and have an extensive understanding of complex engineering concepts and applications
  • Perform needs analysis and initiate ideas, create/evaluate new processes and perform complex analysis work, identify and solve challenging problems
  • Create and deliver technical reports.
  • Create new CAD models and drawings for systems, sub-systems, assemblies, and components using Creo.
  •      Flexible to travel globally which is of 10% of the work
  • Mentor and develop other engineers in the team

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • Working knowledge on Cooling system modelling, design and development – Architecture  
  • Proficiency with generator design & development including Testing.
  • Strong knowledge of various manufacturing processes, DFMEA and PFMEA concepts.
  • Ability to perform complex assignments.
  • Self-starter with strong technical leadership skills.
  • Enjoys working in a fast paced, technically challenging environment.
  • Basic proficiency in Mandarin language.

Additional information: This job required 5days working from office.
