How You Will Make An Impact
This is a strategic enterprise leadership role responsible for modernizing how the company organizes, governs and activates information as a trusted business asset. The Senior Director, Enterprise Information Management & AI Governance will establish the information management, semantic governance and responsible AI governance capabilities required to make data findable, understandable, reusable, trusted and ready for analytics, automation and AI.
This leader will help the company move faster with practical guardrails. They will bring structure to complex information challenges, connect business and technical teams, and enable responsible innovation in a life sciences environment where trust, ethics and regulatory expectations matter.
What You Will Do
- Lead the enterprise strategy and operating model for information management, data governance and AI governance.
- Define how enterprise information should be organized, governed and made AI-ready across business, scientific, operational and digital use cases.
- Establish a federated model that balances enterprise standards with divisional ownership, domain expertise and local execution.
- Build the next generation information foundation for trusted data and knowledge, connecting business definitions, domain context, metadata, lineage, unstructured content and organizational memory so people and AI systems can use information with the right meaning.
- Set practical standards for ownership, stewardship, data quality, permitted use, AI readiness and responsible reuse.
- Partner with the Data & AI Product Management Office so data and AI products are built on clear, trusted and responsibly governed information foundations.
- Coordinate with Legal, Privacy, Cybersecurity, Regulatory, Quality, Risk and business stakeholders to turn specialist requirements into usable governance patterns.
- Shape responsible AI governance through clear intake, risk tiering, review paths, guardrails, monitoring and escalation.
- Support enterprise AI governance initiatives such as AI Control Tower capabilities, agent guardrails, AI playbooks and responsible AI assessment automation.
- Develop executive reporting and maturity measures that show progress on data health, information readiness, AI readiness, adoption and business impact.
- Embed governance into the way teams work through partnership with architecture, platform, analytics, automation, AI and business teams.
- Lead stakeholder communication, change management and team development so governance is practical, scalable and connected to business outcomes.
How You Will Get Here
Education
- Bachelor's degree required.
- An advanced degree in Information Management, Business, Technology, Data Science, Analytics, Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related discipline is preferred.
Experience and Capabilities
- Extensive experience leading enterprise information management, data governance, data strategy, data architecture, process transformation, AI governance or related transformation work in complex global organizations.
- Hands-on practitioner background in modern data and information disciplines such as metadata, lineage, data quality, stewardship, semantic modeling or enterprise data domains.
- Demonstrated success building governance models that improve speed, trust, reuse and accountability without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.
- Experience applying continuous process improvement, Lean, Six Sigma or similar disciplines to simplify work, improve flow and drive measurable transformation preferred.
- Strong understanding of AI-ready data needs, including provenance, permitted use, transparency, explainability, monitoring and responsible AI governance.
- Experience operating in regulated, high-trust environments. Life sciences, healthcare, financial services or similarly complex industries preferred.
- Ability to turn complex governance concepts into practical workflows, decision rights, standards and adoption routines.
- Proven ability to influence senior executives, lead through a matrix and drive enterprise change.
- Highest personal and professional integrity with a strong commitment to ethical governance, responsible innovation and doing the right thing.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in North Carolina is $225,000.00–$289,000.00.This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
