Job Description:

As a Sr Cloud DevOps Engineer Global supporting the Agentic AI – Customer & Commercial Pod, you’ll play a key role in building and operating the cloud infrastructure and automation that enables intelligent, Customer‑facing AI experiences at scale. In this role, you’ll design, develop, and evolve secure, reusable AWS‑based infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps tooling that support agentic AI services from development through production. Partnering closely with application Engineers, Security Teams, and Architects, you’ll help translate complex AI platform needs into resilient cloud patterns that are easy to deploy, operate, and scale. You’ll act as a cloud subject matter expert—leading design reviews, applying best practices for automation, reliability, and disaster recovery, and ensuring infrastructure supports rapid experimentation without sacrificing security or stability. This role offers the opportunity to operate at the intersection of advanced AI capabilities and modern DevOps engineering—helping Southwest deliver fast, intuitive digital experiences that evolve alongside our Customers’ needs.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate cloud services and architecture to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
  • Implement automation tools and frameworks for automatic code deployment (CI/CD)
  • Work with the development team to deploy and manage tools that support SDLC automation, configuration management, and release management
  • Understand technical architectures with automation to support complex delivery across a wide range of digital and enterprise applications
  • Lead the design, development, and evolution of cloud infrastructure
  • Establish and/or follow procedures and standards to ensure high quality and quantity of work
  • Establish or follow prioritization processes to drive work with a sense of urgency about getting work completed
  • Consult with stakeholders to specify requirements and solutions which address business challenges and opportunities
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in cloud infrastructure, performing design reviews and consulting with your teams to ensure design best practices
  • Maintain business continuity and disaster recovery processes
  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of AWS Infrastructure as a Service Automation tools like Cloud Formation
  • Ability to understand AWS compute, data sources, security technologies
  • Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code (IAC)
  • Skilled in deployment strategies using Docker for containerization
  • Ability to understand the monitoring and management of the build and deployment processes and infrastructure
  • Ability to analyze services to ensure security best practices are followed
  • Ability to mentor and guide team members' learning, including introducing new ideas and technologies
  • Ability to anticipate business needs and lead a team towards identifying and solving cross-domain problems
  • Skilled in automated testing solutions for unit testing, integration testing and system testing
Education
  • Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or related field and/or equivalent formal training

Experience
  • Required: Advanced-level experience, seasoned and specialized knowledge in Cloud software or DevOps
    • 5-7 years of relevant work-related experience
    • Proven ability to design and build enterprise AWS infrastructure and cloud capabilities for services running on AWS, partnering with app/security/architecture teams
    • Strong experience implementing automation frameworks/tools for automatic code deployment (CI/CD) and managing tooling that supports SDLC automation, configuration management, and release management.
    • Ability to create re-usable and secure infrastructure patterns that business applications can consume (repeatable environments, consistent standards, secure defaults)
    • Comfortable owning the lifecycle in a DevOps culture: architecture, design, development, implementation, and ongoing operations—including evaluating alternative solutions and tradeoffs
  • Preferred:
    • Hands-on experience with CCP Next and Terraform/Terragrunt-style modular infrastructure patterns, including working through CCP Next intake + operating in those guardrails
    • Familiarity deploying/operating infrastructure for AWS Bedrock AgentCore–based services (runtime/gateway/identity/memory/guardrails) or equivalent “agent platform” primitives
    • Experience building pipelines with quality gates (tests, security scans, promotion criteria) aligned to enterprise patterns (e.g., CI/CD stages, scanning, integration tests, staged deploys)
    • Ability to support AI workloads with measurability/traceability hooks (so teams can monitor quality and behavior in production) and partner effectively with AgentOps-style needs
