Job Summary
We are seeking a Junior RF Applications Engineer to play a critical role in supporting and enabling customer success with Semtech’s wireless technology.
In this role, you will work hands-on with Semtech RF transceiver silicon, driving evaluation, development, and testing of RF hardware solutions. You will support sub-GHz and 2.4 GHz RF products, providing technical guidance to resolve application challenges, perform RF debugging, and optimize performance at both board and system levels.
You will also contribute to the development of laboratory automation tools, generate high-quality technical documentation, and participate in field testing, collaborating with global teams to drive LoRa technology adoption.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support to Field Application Engineers, Sales, and directly to customers. Analyze RF design issues, conduct design reviews, and recommend corrective actions; debug hardware at board and system level (~50%).
- Evaluate and optimize RF performance of LoRa-based evaluation hardware and reference designs, tuning RF matching networks and optimizing PA/LNA performance across operating conditions (~30%).
- Develop and maintain RF evaluation tools for conducted and radiated measurements and regulatory compliance (~10%).
- Produce technical documentation, application notes, presentations, and training materials to promote Semtech products and facilitate LoRa design-in (~10%).
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in RF or Electronic Engineering (or equivalent).
- 2–3 years’ experience in RF and embedded electronics, including RF measurement and characterization of transmit/receive performance.
- Proficiency with RF laboratory instruments: spectrum analyzer, RF signal generator, vector network analyzer, RF power meter.
- Practical experience in RF matching network design and tuning, with familiarity in PA and LNA optimization techniques.
- Python programming skills for test bench automation and measurement scripting.
- Experience with MCU-based embedded firmware for RF devices is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of antenna design, wireless communication protocols (LoRa, LoRaWAN, FSK, BLE) is an advantage.
Desired Qualifications
- Understanding of LoRa modulation, RF propagation, interference, and coexistence challenges.
- Familiarity with ETSI (EN300.220), FCC (Part 15.247), and ARIB (STD-T08) regulations.
- Knowledge of EMC principles and troubleshooting.
- Strong problem-solving skills, creativity, and structured approach to implementation.
- Adaptability and curiosity in a dynamic technology environment.
- Excellent communication skills, with ability to collaborate across multi-site engineering teams.
- Full professional proficiency in English (French is a plus).
