About the Role

As a Senior Product Designer, you'll join a team of multi-disciplinary designers who care deeply about helping people learn from their data. You'll own design for your team with a strategic focus—defining a north star vision in collaboration with product and engineering, then researching, refining, and reducing until you've landed on something that truly moves the needle for our customers.

This isn't a role where design is handed specs to execute. You'll be an equal partner shaping what gets built and why—zooming out to set direction, then zooming in to sweat the details. You'll work in close partnership with other designers, PMs, and engineers to create experiences that are fast, composable, and refined—true to how we think about product at Mixpanel.

We believe great design is interactive, efficient, and built with precision. If you care deeply about the craft and grounding in user needs—you'll fit in here.

What You’ll Work On

We're building toward a future where Mixpanel's data platform is programmable for agents and developers, smarter with every interaction, and trusted at enterprise scale. Some of the problems in that space:

  • Rethinking how users understand, govern, and trust their data—from metadata management to data quality and sensitive data controls
  • Designing developer and agent-facing interfaces that make powerful data APIs intuitive and accessible
  • Creating experiences that help less technical users confidently engage with complex, high-stakes platform surfaces

The specifics may evolve, but the through-line is complex, high-impact infrastructure and AI problems where design has real leverage.

Responsibilities

  • Own design end-to-end for your team—from early vision through to shipped, polished product—with minimal oversight.
  • Think in systems: zoom out to set strategic direction, zoom in to execute with precision, and bring partners along on both.
  • Partner with product and design leadership to connect your work to the broader product vision and roadmap.
  • Design user interfaces, flows, and prototypes that bring clarity to genuinely complex problems.
  • Drive and participate in user research to ground decisions in real needs.
  • Mentor other designers and raise the quality bar through example and direct feedback.
  • Facilitate team activities like: critiques, brainstorms, workshops, and bring out the best thinking from the room.
  • Use AI tools actively in your workflow, for exploration, iteration, and process efficiency, and help shape how the team works with these tools over time.

We're Looking For Someone Who has

  • 4+ years designing digital products in an individual contributor role.
  • A portfolio that shows sharp strategic thinking and high craft—we want to see how you work, not just what shipped.
  • Strong depth in at least two design disciplines (interaction design, visual design, prototyping, systems design, research).
  • Experience with business and/or developer-focused products, ideally with some complexity (data, analytics, developer tools, or similar).
  • A systems mindset—you can hold the big picture and the fine details at the same time, and you know when to switch between them.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; you can articulate tradeoffs clearly and bring stakeholders with you.
  • Curiosity about and active engagement with AI tools—you're experimenting, not waiting to see what happens.

Bonus

  • Experience with data visualization or analytics pr
