Position Summary
Reporting to the Country People Org. Lead, this role develops and delivers country-level HR strategies. It provides HR support and implements programs across multiple businesses, functions, and regions. The role answers complex questions on HR policies, procedures, and programs, and ensures initiatives meet business priorities and local legal requirements. Working with a broader HR team, it delivers coordinated services to employees, coaching to leaders on performance and conduct matters, supports core HR activities, consults with regional leaders on program needs, and uses trend analysis to keep HR work aligned with business goals.
Job Responsibilities
- Provides a full range of HR support and policy / program implementation activities at a country level. Apply knowledge of HP HR practices and appropriate provincial employment legislation to ensure compliance with ever evolving employment laws
- Be a trusted advisor to managers and employees to resolve conflict, address challenges and employee development, and maintain a healthy work environment.
- Partner with HR team and business leaders to proactively address challenges and opportunities that impact employee experience and productivity. Including but not limited to attendance and/or performance management.
- Implements human resources programs to meet geography, business, and functional needs.
- Delivers programs and policies developed globally that are specialized for local or regional requirements (i.e. ‘Canadianize’ policies and programs to ensure adherence to local requirements)
- Partner with HR Centers of Excellence (CoEs - Total Rewards, Talent, Learning & Culture, Recruiting & Onboarding, People Services & Insights, Inclusion, etc) to define and execute a positive and effective end-to-end HR service experience for all clients.
- Consults with managers on employment standards leaves and other HR programs in place to support employees through different career and life stages
- Support the planning and delivery of Career Navigator and Rewards Planning milestones with assigned client groups/ business partners
- Engage in local Employee Health & Safety initiatives
- Coordinating / Liaising with Payroll team members to optimize the employee experience
- Other projects and duties as assigned, such as but not limited to workforce redeployment and reduction, university hiring and contingent workforce management.
Education and Experience Required
- University degree in related field (i.e. business, human resources, psychology)
- Professional Human Resources Certifications preferred (i.e. CHRP; CHRL)
- Demonstrated 3+ years of related progressive and advanced human resources experience in a variety of HR domains, with emphasis on Employee Relations
- Commitment to leading and role modeling the HP Way
- Experience working in a centralized human resources model, partnering with Centres of Expertise (COEs)
Knowledge and Skills
- Demonstrated experience and applied understanding of employment legislation requirements in all Canadian provinces including the Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act and the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
- Proven ability to take initiative and/or be responsive and proactive in all aspects of Human Resources
- Ability to effectively manage multiple demands and priorities, often independently.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Experience in managing relationships at all levels within the organization
- Experience in managing human resources projects
- Demonstrated experiences in process improvement and project management
- Ability to respond independently to complex inquiries; research and apply learnings in complex situations
- Bilingual in English and French, preferred

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this role is $68,950 to $85,000 annually. Pay within this range will be based on the review of experience, skills, and internal equity.
