Cleveland Clinic's H80 General Medicine/Telemetry Unit offers an exciting opportunity to care for a diverse population of patients with complex medical needs, including respiratory, cardiac, gastrointestinal, and other acute and chronic conditions. The broad clinical exposure and fast-paced environment provide our caregivers with exceptional opportunities to develop their skills, expand their knowledge, and gain valuable experience in inpatient medicine. As a member of our collaborative care team, you will play a vital role in supporting patients throughout their hospitalization and positively impacting their experience every day.

 

A caregiver in this position works three 12-hour shifts and 4 hours of admin time from 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.

 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Oversee nursing personnel and patient care providers in procedural settings to ensure quality of care. 
  • Anticipate and resolve patient care issues. 
  • Ensure continuity of patient care by actively participating in and facilitating communication and collaboration among and between department staff and other departments re: operational issues. 
  • Review major operational patient care issues with Nurse Managers. 
  • Provide ongoing clinical evaluation of nurses and other direct and indirect patient care providers on assigned unit/area. 
  • Counsel employees on performance issues, administers initial corrective actions, collaborates in monitoring attendance issues. 
  • Alert Nurse Manager of significant clinical or other performance issues. 
  • Participate in interviewing, selecting and appraising the performance of employees. 
  • Monitor the adherence to EEO/AAP goals and guidelines. 
  • Administer Nursing Institute, departmental and CC policies and procedures. 
  • Prepare schedule of work assignment assuring adequate coverage on all shifts. 
  • Participate in and supports quality improvement projects, outcomes studies and research initiatives. 
  • Assist in orienting new personnel, continuing education and in-service educational programs. 

 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing  
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) 
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR the American Red Cross  
  • Two years of clinical experience
  • Strong demonstrated clinical knowledge and skills  
  • Good oral, written and interpersonal skills, strong analytical and organizational skills. 

Physical Requirements:

  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
