About the role

Are you ready to kick-start your career in one of the most specialized areas of international insurance?

AIG is looking for a Junior Underwriter to join our Nordic Financial Lines team in Stockholm. In this role, you will train to become a specialist in Management Liability Commercial (MLC). You will work with high-stakes products like Directors & Officers (D&O) liability, Crime insurance, and Employment Practices Liability, protecting the decision-makers of the Nordic region’s largest companies.

What’s in it for you?

At AIG, you get the best of both worlds: the agile, close-knit local team environment combined with the endless resources and network of a global insurance leader. As this is a junior position, your development is our absolute priority.

Here is what you can expect:

  • Learn-It-All Culture: You step into an environment that values curiosity over knowing it all from day one. You will learn the craft of underwriting through hands-on mentorship, working directly alongside senior experts.
  • One Nordic: You will be based in Stockholm but operate within a fully integrated Nordic unit, giving you cross-border sparring and an international network.
  • Swedish Benefits: 30 days of annual vacation, occupational pension, private health insurance, and a wellness allowance.
  • Flexibility: A hybrid working model ensuring a sustainable work-life balance.

Your impact and responsibilities

As a Junior Underwriter, you will build a solid foundation in risk analysis and portfolio management. You support the team in driving growth while gradually taking ownership of your own tasks.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Risk Analysis: Assessing the financial health and legal exposure of companies to make informed underwriting decisions.
  • Underwriting Support: Structuring and pricing insurance policies that align with AIG’s strategy and client needs.
  • Broker Collaboration: Developing relationships with brokers and clients through daily commercial dialogue and prompt service.
  • Cross-border Teamwork: Collaborating with internal stakeholders, including Claims and Distribution, to provide comprehensive solutions across the Nordics.

What you’ll need to succeed

This role is designed for an early-career professional with zero to a couple of years of experience. You do not need to be an insurance expert yet, but you must have the curiosity to become one.

  • A university degree in Law, Economics, Business, or a related field.
  • You see yourself as being proactive, curious, and taking pride in delivering quality work.
  • An analytical mindset with the ability to interpret financial statements and legal data.
  • A commercial approach, feeling comfortable picking up the phone to build relationships with external partners.
  • Fluency in a Nordic language and English (written and spoken).

Meet the Team

You will be based in our centrally located Stockholm office, reporting to the Financial Lines Manager for Finland & Sweden. You will be part of a vibrant Nordic Financial Lines team of 20+ professionals specializing in a wide range of commercial risks. We prioritize collaboration, psychological safety, and shared success.

How to apply

No need for a lengthy cover letter. Simply send us your CV, including a short section explaining your motivation and fit for the role. We will be reviewing applications on an ongoing basis, so we encourage you to apply as soon as possible.
