The Position
This position is offered in the Clinical Development department within CDMA (Clinical Development and Medical Affairs), specifically within our Clinical Evidence and Safety Team, where we focus on ensuring the highest standards of medical risk management for our IVD (In Vitro Diagnostic) portfolio and evidence generation for our diabetes care MD (medical device) portfolio.
In this role, you will bridge two critical entities within our team:
1. Contributing to the safety lifecycle of our devices, ensuring appropriate pre-market risk assessments and considering post-market signals from marketed devices.
2. Supporting clinical evidence generation for innovative diabetes care solutions.
Your primary mission will be to help us establish a robust, logical framework for consistent medical risk scoring across various device groups and customer areas using state-of-the-art tools..

The Opportunity
Your main tasks will include:
- Medical Risk Management: Working extensively with the Retina database to manage and analyze medical risk data for IVD devices across their entire lifecycle—from pre-market risk assessments to post-market signal ingestion.
- Data Querying: Utilizing advanced querying methods and programming skills to extract and organize relevant clinical information from Retina.
- Framework Development: Supporting the team in setting up a standardized framework for consistent medical risk scoring across different device groups.
- AI & Prompt Engineering: Utilizing AI tools and advanced prompting techniques to enhance data analysis, automate workflows, and conduct and analyze comprehensive literature searches.
- Process Optimization: Applying logical thinking to streamline how medical risks are categorized and evaluated within the portfolio.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborating with experts to ensure the risk scoring aligns with the overall clinical development goals.
Who You are
- Academic Background: You are currently enrolled as an MD or PhD student or You are a recent graduate in Health Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Biology, or a related scientific field.
- Technical Proficiency: You have a strong affinity for databases, querying methods, and programming.
- AI Enthusiast: You are comfortable working with AI and prompting, showing an interest in how emerging technology can be applied to clinical safety and clinical evidence generation.
- Mindset: You possess a "move-forward" mindset, preferring proactive action and learning from outcomes over hesitation.
- Analytical Skills: You are a logical thinker who can maintain a clear view of the "big picture" while working with complex data sets.
- Communication: You have excellent communication skills and are proficient in English (written and spoken).
- Team Player: You enjoy working in a collaborative environment and take ownership of your projects.
- Experience or understanding of risk management principles and quality management thinking is a plus
Additional Information
- Due to regulations non-EU/EFTA citizens must provide a certificate from the university stating that an internship is mandatory as part of the application documents
- Duration of the internship is 12 months
