Summary
The Hematology/Oncology Nurse Practitioner provides advanced nursing care for patients with hematologic and oncologic conditions. This role involves assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with cancers, blood disorders, and related complications. The NP works collaboratively with physicians and a multidisciplinary team to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care throughout the continuum of diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship.Job Description
Conduct comprehensive patient assessments including history, physical examination, and symptom evaluation. Order, interpret, and manage diagnostic tests and laboratory results related to oncology and hematology care. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapies, and supportive care measures. Monitor patient response to treatment and adjust plans accordingly. Manage symptoms and side effects related to cancer and its treatment, such as pain, nausea, fatigue, and hematologic abnormalities. Provide patient and family education on disease processes, treatment options, and self-care strategies. Coordinate care with oncologists, hematologists, pharmacists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals. Facilitate referrals to specialists, clinical trials, and supportive services. Document all patient encounters, treatments, and care plans in compliance with institutional and regulatory standards. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, research, and continuing education related to hematology/oncology. Maintain current knowledge of advances in hematology and oncology care and treatments.Qualifications
Master’s or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
If APRN was licensed prior to August 1, 1995, master's degree in nursing is preferred.
Experience in hematology/oncology clinical settings preferred.

- Medical Oncology APP
- Schedule: Monday-Friday daytime hours. Rotating weekends (4 hours on Saturday and Sunday). It is every 9th weekend right now- changes with the number of APPs on the team.
- Clinic setting. Very little hospital- may admit someone
- New Grads considered with the right experience prior to APP degree.
- Position duties: See oncology patients in clinic and infusion center settings
- Make up of Team is Physicians 12 Medical Oncologists, and 5 Medical Oncology APPs
- Position FTE: Prefer 1.0. Would consider 0.8 or 0.9

Current licensure as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner in each state of practice.
Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit to prescribe controlled substances in each state of practice.
State Controlled Substance License (if required by State)
National Board Certification as an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP-BC) or ACNPC-AG), Acute Care Adult (ACNP-BC); Additional certifications require approval from a market executive leader: Family (FNP-BC) or (FNP–C), Adult-Gerontology Primary Care (AGPCNP-BC) or (A-GNP)
Obtains and subsequently maintains required specific competencies and certifications as outlined on privilege form.
