As the Production Manager, you are the logistical architect of the client's account. Based in Tokyo, you will orchestrate a "follow-the-sun" production model, managing a high volume of digital, film, and AI-generated assets across Monks’ global network.

You will be the vital link between the client in Japan and our production hubs in EMEA, North America, and APAC. Your mission is to ensure that every project is delivered with Japanese precision, global scale, and maximum efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

1. Global Pipeline Management

  • Cross-Border Coordination: Manage end-to-end production workflows involving multiple global offices. You are responsible for ensuring that "Project A" started in Tokyo is seamlessly picked up by teams in Europe or the Americas.
  • Resource Optimization: Identify the best "Monks" for the job. Whether it’s high-end CGI in Los Angeles or a localized platform built in Singapore, you know how to navigate our global talent pool.
  • Timeline & Quality Control: Implement rigorous QC processes that satisfy the high standards of Japanese "Monozukuri" (craftsmanship) while maintaining the speed of a digital-first agency.

2. AI & Future-Tech Production

  • AI-First Workflow: Implement and oversee production pipelines that maximize
  • Generative AI for versioning, localization, and asset creation. You will help redefine "efficiency" by reducing traditional overhead through smart tech.
  • Virtual Production: Lead projects involving real-time rendering (Unreal Engine) and virtual photography
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Bridge the gap between creative ambition and technical feasibility, ensuring AI-generated content meets legal, brand, and technical specifications.

3. Client & Stakeholder Diplomacy

  • Local Liaison: Act as the trusted production partner for the client in Tokyo. You can explain complex global production processes in a way that builds confidence and transparency.
  • Budget Stewardship: Manage complex, multi-currency budgets and SOWs. You ensure that the client gets maximum value by leveraging our global scale.
  • Risk Mitigation: Anticipate bottlenecks before they happen—whether they are cultural misunderstandings, time-zone gaps, or technical hurdles.

The Ideal Profile

  • 8+ years of production experience (Agency or Production House). You have a proven track record of delivering complex, integrated campaigns for global brands.
  • Experience with the specific requirements of automotive production (CGI car rigs, rights & clearances, precision shooting) is highly valued.
  • Native-level Japanese and professional English. You can lead a technical production call in English and then present the status update in formal Japanese to the client.
  • You don't need to be a coder, but you must understand the "how" behind AI tools, 3D pipelines, and CMS platforms.
  • You thrive in the "grey area" of complex projects. You are organized, calm under pressure, and a master of tools like Monday.com, Asana, or Jira.
