Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for managing production personnel to maximize quality and output in a manufacturing operation. Accountable for achieving production targets while maintaining cost controls.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Under general direction and in accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position:

·     Manages production operation and work to meet production goals.

·     He/She is accountable for the overall results of the manufacturing area.

·     Provides direction, guidance and leadership to the direct reports in the manufacturing area.

·     Establishes department processes, policies and operations guidelines.

·     Ensures production flow, on-time resolution of manufacturing issues and adherence to production orders and schedules.

  • Establishes metrics and reports to monitor the status quo as well as to identify opportunities and drives improvements in Safety, Customer Service, Compliance and Cost.

  • Ensures and drives enhancements towards a Culture of Quality, Compliance, Safety and Continuous Improvement in the manufacturing areas.

  • Ensures the operational execution in lines with external regulations and internal standards/procedures.

  • Handles all aspects of managing personnel including hiring and termination. Ensures discipline of manufacturing staff/associates.

  • Assesses competencies, determine gaps as well as develops meaningful individual development plans for direct reports & provides career coaching and development opportunities to direct reports.

  • Sets the goals & objectives for manufacturing area and supports the goal setting of direct reports.

  • Evaluates performance and provides feedback. Implements disciplinary actions as necessary

  • Supports the development / execution of site strategies.

  • Supports Union related matters, which have an impact on manufacturing.

  • Observes & promotes all regulatory requirements as defined per applicable regulations, rules & procedures established by the Company, and notified any violation or deviation to the immediate supervisor or appropriate authority.

  • Complies with all training requirements to perform duties of the job.

  • Ensure adherence/compliance to Records Management policies and procedures, as applicable

  • Ensure adherence to timelines for Non-conformance, CAPA, Audit Observation and relevant actions.

  • Lead the EHS culture within the department including meeting the EHS standards and Audit requirements & continuous mentoring/training of the associates.

  • Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level

  • Ensuring that subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition, if applicable.

  • Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures. Performs other duties assigned as needed

  • Authorize to approve procedures, Invoice, PR/PO, Leave, Write off/RIAD Documents & SOX report.

·     Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level.

·     Responsible for following all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices as applicable.

·     For those who supervise or manage a staff, responsible for ensuring that subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition, if applicable

·     Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures.

·     Performs other duties assigned as needed.

Authorities

·     Authorization of stock & non-stock purchase requisitions as per authority matrix.

·     Approval of stock & non-stock purchase orders as per authority matrix.

·     Approval of procurement of stock items against monthly production plan.

·     Approval of inventory related documents/ write off documents as per authority matrix.

·     Performance appraisal of direct reports and their subordinates.

·     Approval leaves of direct reports and their subordinates.

·     Approval of bills of employees’ suppliers as per authority matrix.

·     Approval as per delegation process

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

·     Degree of Engineering or B. Pharma from reputed institute.

·     Minimum 12-15 years relevant experience.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES and AFFILIATIONS

Functional Competencies:

·     Product Engineering, Innovation & Maintenance:

o   Demonstrates ability to conduct engineering analyses to determine technical performance drivers and to assess ability to support new product manufacturing. Identifies potential root cause of asset performance issues using standard engineering approaches.

o   Demonstrates understanding of the importance of innovation to the organization, different types of innovation, and the appropriate channels to communicate innovation opportunities

o   Understanding of basic technology used in all production Equipment’s used at the shop floor.

o   Can understand cause of day to day normal equipment failure and able to correct the same with /without support from Engineering team

o   Can provide input to the Operator /Engineering team for modification / Improvement

o   Applies understanding of preventative maintenance schedules to support timely and efficient upkeep of equipment to minimize plant downtime

o   Demonstrates ability to track the maintenance schedule, work completed and results. Applies knowledge of basic safety procedures (i.e. electrical lock-out, enclosed space entry, harness usage, etc.)

·     Production Scheduling:

o   Ensure effective production scheduling with overall production plan.

o   Demonstrates ability to take appropriate corrective action to resolve discrepancies and maintain production balance after reviewing actual performance as compared to plan

o   Leverages understanding of the Quality Control function, including quality requirements, objectives, and processes to assist in the resolution of production quality issues

·     Production Cost Management:

o   Demonstrates understanding of the need for cost management and its importance for customers.

o   Demonstrates basic knowledge of product costs (i.e. COGS), Design to Value concepts, and key levers that impact improvement or degradation in cost performance.

·     Data Management & Documentation:

o   Demonstrates deep knowledge of GMP/GDP rules and regulations as well as any other applicable standards

o   Demonstrates ability to understand on impact on production quality and consequences of non- compliance

o   Demonstrates ability to develop appropriate J&J SOPs/SPECS in response to new regulations, new changes to process/equipment

o   Demonstrates understanding of interrelationships in data and systems / technology enablers in performing daily activities under guidance and supervision

o   Understands the importance of master data integrity and quality and of following J&J standards, policies and procedures

·     Continuous Improvement:

o   Demonstrates the ability to recognize the need for improvement and a basic understanding of continuous improvement tools and approaches such as Lean Six Sigma, VOC, Kaizen etc.

·     Process Engineering (Validation and Calibration):

o   Understanding of validation / Verification procedure.

o   Can conduct Validation / Verification for minor changes in existing process / Equipment in production
