We are looking for a Sr. Staff Mechanical Engineer to join our team in one of today’s most exciting technologies. This role will report to the Sr. Manager, Mechanical Design Engineering and will be based in San Jose, CA. This is a fully on-site, in office role 5 days a week.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Design & develop mechanical system solutions based on engineering principles.
- Utilize project management skills to track projects through all phases of design to production.
- Support design decisions with analysis and calculations, as required.
- Develop DFMEA and PFMEA’s for products and solutions to minimize project risks.
- Participate in peer-to-peer design reviews and provide critical feedback to colleagues.
- Create and manage SolidWorks CAD models, drawings, and assemblies.
- Manage top level assemblies in a PDM system environment.
- Control drawing and model releases through the change control process.
- Communicate with suppliers on a technical basis to ensure a quality product.
- Coordinate with manufacturing operations to develop and implement DFM and cost reduction design actions.
- Ensure all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements are observed for all work completed.
- Ensure resulting design drawings/documents meet all Building, Construction and Mechanical code requirements.
- Responsible for ensuring the design conforms to specifications required for the implementation of Bloom Energy fuel cell systems.
Education, Skills, and Experience:
- BS in Mechanical Engineering required.
- 6-8 years of relevant experience.
- High level of accountability – proactive and persistent with the skills and disposition to take a project from beginning to end.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-starter and desire to learn new things.
- An entrepreneurial spirit is essential.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively with multiple project and priorities.
- Professional & collaborative – comfortable working closely with a team.
- Excellent SolidWorks CAD knowledge.
- Strong understanding of GD&T and drafting of mechanical components and sub-assemblies.
- Ability to use engineering analysis tools (FEA, Thermo, CFD, etc.) for design validation.
- Experience working in manufacturing, construction, and/or facility maintenance as it related to mechanical assemblies is desired.
- Must be eligible to work in the US.
