About the role

About Us

Dorsia is redefining how people access the world's most in-demand restaurants and experiences, fusing technology with luxury hospitality to give members access to the impossible, and giving operators the tools to match. We're a fast-growing startup backed by $50M+ from Index Ventures and partners including Major Food Group, Groot Hospitality, and Gracious Hospitality. We're building the team for our next phase of growth.

About the Role

Dorsia is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to own the backend application layer of a platform that handles some of the most demanding reservations, payments, and member experiences in the world. This is a senior- to staff-level role for an engineer who thinks deeply about how systems are built, not just whether they work.

Qualified candidates are fluent in TypeScript and PHP, bringing genuine conviction about software architecture, API design, and what it takes to build for scale on a lean team. You ship, you own, and you raise the technical bar for everyone around.

What You'll Do

  • Design and evolve the architecture of Dorsia’s backend systems, including our proprietary software, and the APIs that power our member app and operator tools.
  • Lead architectural decisions around serverless, containerized, and event-driven approaches.
  • Own database architecture including schema design, query performance, indexing strategy, and data integrity at scale.
  • Define patterns for how services communicate, how data flows, and how the system degrades gracefully under load.
  • Drive API design across internal and external surfaces.
  • Write production-grade TypeScript and PHP across our application stack.
  • Proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, scaling constraints, and architectural debt.
  • Champion observability across the application layer.
  • Collaborate closely with the Product Engineering team to scope new features, catching architectural problems before they’re written into the codebase.
  • Work with the Platform Engineering team to ensure application requirements are reflected in how the cloud environment is built and scaled.
  • Elevate the team through documentation, code reviews, and technical mentorship.

The Winning Recipe

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 6-8 years of backend engineering experience, with 1-2 years holding a senior or staff title.
  • Proven track record designing and scaling backend systems in production.
  • Experience launching and testing software products.
  • Deep fluency in TypeScript and PHP, database relational systems, containerized workflows, and cloud environments.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, complex environment involving cross-functional projects.
  • A genuine interest in the Dorsia product, the member experience, and what it means to build for hospitality at this level.

Strong plus: prior experience with reservation system integrations (SevenRooms, Resy, OpenTable), dining payments infrastructure, or luxury/membership consumer apps.

Workplace Philosophy at Dorsia

At Dorsia, we believe that culture eats strategy. The best ideas in the world mean nothing without the right people around the table and the right chemistry between them. We are, unapologetically, a people-first organization.

In-Person Matters

We’re creating once-in-a-lifetime experiences for the most discerning audience in the world. That doesn’t happen over Zoom. It happens through collisions: a spark across a desk, a kitchen-side conversation that unlocks a partnership, the energy of ideas felt, not typed. That’s why in-office culture is non-negotiable at Dorsia.

Who We Hire

We don’t subscribe to check-the-box hiring. We hire for merit and mindset, which naturally creates a team with varied backgrounds. What unites us isn’t demographics, it’s a shared vision: to build the social operating system for the cultural vanguard.

Lifestyle Hours

We’re not a 9-to-5 company. Our lifestyle mirrors our members. Early flights, after-work events, and late-night sprints when the work demands it. But we love what we do, and we definitely love a good party.

High Performance Culture

Working at Dorsia isn’t for everyone—and that’s the point. Our culture is designed for builders, not passengers. We move fast, set ambitious standards, and expect people to rise to them. If you have the talent and the drive, this will be a ride to remember.

A Final Word

We’re building something special. It will take long hours and relentless effort. It’s not for everyone. For those with the metabolism, you’ll create something that changes how culture is lived. And that’s the kind of work worth your life’s energy.
